Re: SONGWRITING COMPETITION - SWC079 March 2024 - Voting until 01-APR-2024 23:59 UTC+2/CEST

What I learned in this round that rushing something because of lack of time is not good idea. When you are trying to finish the whole mix and polish the track in one session it have some consequences. You ears are tired and you are not able anymore decide if the change you made is improved the sound...

Re: SONGWRITING COMPETITION - SWC079 March 2024 - Submissions until 24-MAR-2024 23:59 UTC+1/CET

This round was fun, but also struggle for me. Even I do a lot of electronic/synth music I have never try to go for particular style. So let me show you the result of this challenge. I have listened to a lot of synthwave music in order to get some pointers. I always create hybrid and this track is no...

Re: SONGWRITING COMPETITION - SWC079 March 2024 - Submissions until 24-MAR-2024 23:59 UTC+1/CET

This challenge is different. At least on my side of it. First : Considering myself more of a proghead (uh? synthwave , what's up?), I realised (by a serious look on my HD) that I own tons of albums considered (somehow) related to synthwave. Well, then that ain't bad at all. Well this have definitel...

Re: SONGWRITING COMPETITION - SWC079 March 2024 - Submissions until 24-MAR-2024 23:59 UTC+1/CET

For this month's theme/genre, I struggled a little bit because I'm not a fan of synth-wave in particular. However, I was able to make something that I really think came out great! It is a cross between mid-tempo and synth-wave. It does lean heavily into mid-tempo but there are obvious synth-wave el...

Re: SONGWRITING COMPETITION - SWC078 February 2024 - Winners announced

Thanks again all for the feedback and I kind of happy to see that my noise is not that bad. For the prize, I was not originally thinking about getting anything but I decide to try Lunaris 2 and see if it is less CPU hungry then first one. I have one small question for Mister Fox. Not that it is supe...

Re: SONGWRITING COMPETITION - SWC078 February 2024 - Submissions until 24-FEB-2024 23:59 UTC+1/CET

Could it be that the percussion is the same throughout the whole track? Some breaks would have increased the dramatic emphasis. If I read correctly there is no hint who did the vocals, or where they derive from ... No. The whole percussion track is unique for whole track. It is not repeating 4 bar ...

Re: SONGWRITING COMPETITION - SWC078 February 2024 - Submissions until 24-FEB-2024 23:59 UTC+1/CET

The percussion is a bit too much in the front and the instruments are too far in the back and also a bit too dry. Yes it can be. It is mostly my lack of experience with rumba. I was thinking that rumba rhythm should take the lead because it is dance music. This is why I make it more upfront. I need...

Re: SONGWRITING COMPETITION - SWC078 February 2024 - Submissions until 24-FEB-2024 23:59 UTC+1/CET

I think I already posted some thought about my finding during this round. It is more like "newer does not mean better". Also that there is still too much room for improvement in every respect. I can say that competition like this or any other are very good place to improve and learn new th...
