Re: SONGWRITING COMPETITION - SWC041 January 2021 - Winners announced
Thanks for the feedback everyone, and congratulations to all for making a track within the limitations of the challenge. Since a lot of y'all commented on my tuning, I should probably note: a lot of it was intentional, for better or worse. I tuned the synths in 41edo and aimed to use some non-standa...

Here we go  Feedback and voting time. satchboogie - Everybody Intro guitar is nice, programming is pretty and the part is good. Personally i found the vocal bits were more distracting than useful. lots of them didn't line up well to any particular rhythm of the piece and the emotion of some of...

I see nothing wrong with resampling, layering, bouncing, exporting, etc. These processes help keep a tidy project and open up new sound options. For bookkeeping, you should try to hold on to the intermediate projects or files in case someone questions you - if you can reasonably show how you got tho...

Finally finished editing some of my recordings into samples. You can find my samples here . I did two set of 3 samples again, since there aren't many other folks contributing - "main" which are 3 miscellaneous samples that should be pretty fun to make music with - "exercise" whic...

I've recently acquired a portable recorder of my own, so I've built up a small library of audio. Sometime before the deadline I'll handpick some good ones for mangling.
You can count on some samples from me; hopefully some other folks contribute this year, too.

Re: SONGWRITING COMPETITION - SWC037 September 2020 - Winners announced
regarding the criticism/judging process, I was just reading a thread elsewhere about how constructive means of review and critical response - I think the feedback here is great and in the future I hope I can be more helpful to others with some of the ideas I picked up. And as for the 3rd place prize...

Re: SONGWRITING COMPETITION - SWC037 September 2020 - Winners announced
Congrats Shea and Blang , you did an excellent job with this round. Also, congrats to everyone for finishing a song for the contest - I enjoyed listening to all of the tracks even if I still had to rank them at the end of the day. Personally, I feel like the -10 pt penalty seems a bit harsh consider...

Finally got around to listening - thankfully this round was a very pleasant listening session. Also, for those interested, I updated my post a while back with more details about how I came up with my piece, and what plugins I used. canese - In sepia swell guitar reminds me of a smooth jazz album I h...
