Here's my track Otis Forever.

WAV:

MP3:

Named after the Otis elevator company of course. I also thought about naming it ThyssenKruptown.

Imagine a band, trying to record an easy listening track. But the drummer is crushingly boring, the piano player has a head injury, the organ player is on something, and the guitar player is an untreated toxic narcissist. This is that track.

-----

Edit: Okay, so this was supposed close with a variation on that little melody from the front of the song, but I ran out of time and just blasted out an indulgent guitar thing. So apologies for that.

Anyway:

Addictive Drums United Pop
Addictive Keys Mark One
Addictive Keys Modern Upright

Guitars
bx bassdude

Bass
straight in

I'm in.
I will readily admit that my composition has some flaws and that my performance is pretty bad for some of these instruments.
That's what I get for trying to record things i rarely play on a rushed schedule

It's a rondo in C major, 84 bpm, loopable

instruments and tools:
DAW: Reaper
Reverb: Dragonfly Room
EP: analog lab 3 + JS exciter
Vibraphone: Vibromaster
Pizz. Bass: Sfzorzando & Virtual Playing Orchestra
All other instruments are "real" instruments played into a microphone.
Processed with ReaEQ, ReaComp, ReaGate, and a little bit of ReaTune.

Bonus content:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1YDe9m ... HGnwIGXrLz
includes the score, a .wav download, a 15 minute looped version, and a version of the song spliced with a recording of an elevator ride to show off it's potential as elevator music.

Enjoy!

I have to admit, I got lost in the research for this one, and was subsequently paralyzed. Time ran out like usual!

Hello

I decided to shift slightly away from muzak perspective and make some improvisation. I'm not 100% sure if this could be called jazz since this style of music cought my attention very recently and all I know is a basic understanding of chord progressions, melodies and overall feel of this kind of music. I tried to make several pieces that perhaps could be looped and connect them into whole composition.

While it is pretty minimalistic jam, I've spent many time in mixing and editing, mangling with velocity to bring some dynamics and a feel of real playing. I've used a lot of analog style saturation but also tried not to abuse it.

Speaking of background music it is still quite sticky. I've played it for a three hours while watching a stream.

Hope you enjoy it and good luck!

Instruments:

Drums - MT-Power Drum Kit 2
Bass - Sampleson "Fire" Rhodes piano bass.
Electric Pianos - two instances of AAS "Lounge Lizard Ep. 4 Session" with different settings.
Synth Strings - Full Bucket "the Deputy" string ensemble.

If I understood the rules correctly, it doesn't have to be jazz for this competiton. It said production "that have a relaxed feel (easy listening), OR is "background type" jazz music". I listened couple of hours of muzak examples from youtube, and there were quite many relaxed genres represented.

Hello, here is my entry for this month competition.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/h9j9gkq3ivfaw ... s.wav?dl=0

Hope you like it.

Process:

I wanted to make a bossa nova inspired by Sims 1 Soundtrack and Tom Jobin.
Started with chords in the piano and a chord progression, later I added a melody and bass. Finally I "jazzyfied" the chords in the piano by puting the 3rd or the 7th in the bottom and adding accidentals like the 9th, 11th and 13th. The drums are many Addictive drums samples chopped and placed togheter. In mixing I stacked a lot of layers for obtaining a more full sound. I think I failed again in mastering, but this time I didn't have the time to even try.

drums: Jazz Kit from Addictive Drums
Keyboard: Kontakt factory preset and FL Studio piano
Bass: J bass and String bass from Modo Bass
Strings: FL Studio sampled strings and a Nexus 2 preset
Lead: Massive preset, Me whistling and a Nexus 2 preset.
Way over the top Sax : Kontakt alto Sax and Massive preset (didn't reallize this is almost as loud as the entire mix, my bad)
