Hi everyone, first timer here :smile: wandering over from KVR where I have hung out for many years

The 'Take A Break' theme could not have come at a more relevant time in these extraordinary circumstances we find ourselves in. My track is based on the dream to run away and escape what is happening at the moment and return to a happy safe place untouched by the troubles of the rest of the world

I have always found reggae to be one of the most chilled forms of music, so that was my inspiration

Hi - I went for a guitar based instrumental laid back track. I tried to keep it moving around. Some hyped up parts ended up in the song because they fit so well and then they were in my head and I couldn't hear the song without them. So maybe not completely chilled out but it definitely has a vibe lol

Guitars were done with the new Ampire vst in Studio One and I gotta say it beat out my prior favorite amp sim bx bassdude. Also used -->
Addictive drums
Addictive keys
BX Oberhausen
Tone2 Saurus
shakers and claps (myself)

BX Console N was used for most of the EQ and compression.
Valhalla Plate
Abbey Road Chambers

This song is simple minimalistic retro-song.

I wanted to test old ”bobdylan”-method where verse and chorus use the same chord progression all through the song:
I III7 IV I ii V7.
In this case: A C#7 D A Bm E7
(The chord progression was not taken from Dylan, I made it up by my self. I’m sure there’s many songs which use the same progression, but I can’t remember any one at the moment)

Lyrics are written by my wife about 20 years ago. Whatever the meaning was back then, I gave them a new interpretation: ”becoming old”.

This time I tried to make a song with just couple of real instruments, ie. without using midi tracks. I almost succeeded in that.

Used instruments
- Acoustic guitar
- 2 Electric guitars
- Singing (or should I say ”melodic speaking”)
- Drums played with brushes.

Bass: I tried to use real bass, but the sound was so lousy, so I decided to use Trilian.

Hi-hat: Also, for some reason I didn’t manage to make good enough ”closing hi-hats” sound, so I decided to use Kontakt's Abbey Road Drums for that.

Drums are otherwise real drums, but I had to edit them quite much to make the groove ”good enough”.

MP3: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1a8zFR ... z_qP-XmHQO

DAW: FL Studio 20.6
Author/composer/producer: VCA-089
Title: Carried Away
Genre: Dreamwave (Ambient)
BPM: 70
Key: G Major

After a few months of silently fiddling in my home studio I finally decided to make something. The beginning of 2020's was quite frustrating to me (and I think for many of us), so a chillout themed round is like a doctor's advice.

I made this track within a few evenings (the count in FL Studio says "8 hours"). It doesn't feels like something epic, but it was my intent to make something like a spontaneous improvisation with a few instruments. I'm not quite sure if this can be characterized as "chillout" but may be we have different interpritations.

Good luck! Stay safe and healthy!

Instruments:

U-He "Repro-1" - bass drone.
U-He "Repro-5" - synth keys and arpeggio (sounds like mallets in high registers).
Full Bucket "FB-3100" - modulated strings.
discoDSP "OB-Xd" - synth pad with bandpass filter.

Samples:

Helicopter sound from "The Sounds of New Yourk City" by Sound Visual (a part of GDC Game Audio Bundle 2018).
A few noise sweeps from "White Noise SFX" by 99Sounds.

Used Plugins:

So this time a chill-out theme. As the title says it was inspired by night time. Maybe a night in summertime. Also the song was finished at night, so it speaks about. Anyway here are the plugins used for production:

synapse audio dune;
image-line poizone;
magix independence as vsti and fx plugin;
magix music maker as the daw,
synth caled atmos for field recording fx and synth vita, percussion patch both from magix music maker too.
