@3ee - Could you please provide some feedback on my mix. Would like to know so that I can work on the weak areas in future. Feel free to rip it apart :-)

Hi Tbase2000, hi all.

Rules say 6-8 participants for R2, and 3ee chose Mork as one of those 6.

Mork please do not take my words as an offense.
I really like you my friend, you always have been kind with me.
First I want to clarify something:
Last time I just asked you (and another) a question about your great sounding snares.
Only you answered, and you wrote that you used a sample.
So you were honest and that's why I do not consider you as a cheater.
I did not call Mister Fox about that, believe me or not.

Now what upsets me:

Someone broke a rule but won the first prize.
Podium guys n2, n3 (and n4) have been disadvantaged.

He kept the prize and his "punishment" was to not enter the next contest.
Would have been better to say "you will not have the next prize you will win", just my 2 cents.

Then he enters the next contest anyway, and he is virtually selected for Round 2, instead of podium guy n6.

To me that's a lot of people disadvantaged by just not caring enough about them.

Please care about each other if you want this community to grow up.

I was just reading the text of 10 contestants or whatever and I only saw five picked. Thanks for the rule review. I do think he fell short a little on the reviews in my book also. You got 24...how many do you want to review before you cut them and select 6/5?

The following 10 participants go into Round 2 (alphabetical order)

Apparently, I copied the text over from a previous Mix Challenge (like I usually do) and forgot to adjust the number

That has been fixed - apologies for the inconvenience

It's ultimately the clients call...

Although the rule set does state:
Rules and Guidelines wrote:
  • Post the 21 day mixing period, the song provider can and must give feedback to all of the submitted tracks. If there is an exceedance of 15 submissions by participants (which can easily happen with this type of game), then only for the top 15 productions are mandatory to be evaluated (client can give feedback to all entries if he/she so desires). The song provider can bundle the feedback in one post during the 3-5 days post first submission round (we recommend that even)
  • The song provider must(!) select 6-8 tracks after this evaluation period, and ask these participants for a re-submission. This marks the start of Mix Round 2
Important parts marked in red. Although the end result is indeed a bit unfortunate.
Something to look out for in the future.

If the client (3ee) would be so kind to invest more time to give feedback to more participants, especially on demand, that would indeed be great and adds to the learning process.

Hello! Just made the corrections to my version of the mix. Found that kick and bass really too heavy (my senhs hd650 very helpful at this time) and highs to load. So, hope you will be happy with this one) Cheers to all.

No reason to pick too many (wasting people's times) since I felt high hope for the podium for those picked. I could have probably picked 1-2 more mixes but if I felt there wasn't any 'real' competition to those picked.

I also must admit that I didn't know about this '6 minimum' for the 2nd round.. I red the rules many times before in the past few years, probably it got updated and I didn't really checked again this time  .. if there's a problem, I'm sure we can work it out

Exited to go through to the next round, but 3ee, I need a bit of clarification to not error on the next mix:

minus: a bit too solid and "pop" for this song I believe... want more color/character/distance and less "pop" / polish / shine / ERs
What are "ERs"? Yes, I'm dense

The verses has this pad with an applied LFO-type modulation, please make that a bit less noticeable.
Are you talking about the "20 Pad" track (where I made a pumping effect out of the pad)?

^ ERs as in early reflections , if less, the space/ambiance should be perceivable to be more distant and less intimate and pin-point-able in a given space

The LFO volume automation on the 20 Pad (goes from 1/8T to 1/4 and back to 1/8T again) ... for example, that happens here 23-34 sec
