Thank you for the feedback Treeeye!

Here is my mix for Round 2. I increased the bass volume in the verses, and reduced the clean solo guitar volume in the choruses.
I added more FX automation for the ending.

Greetings!

Here's my submission for round 2!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/wds1zgdwenvwh ... 2.wav?dl=0

For my revision, I used some dynamic EQ on various tracks to help create a little more energy. I also wrote some automation for the drums on the second verse. And I also a used a tubescreamer plugin as a booster to help bring out the clean lead guitars.

Thanks again to Treeeye and Mister Fox for the opportunity to participate in this mix challenge. I had fun working on it. I hope you enjoy the revisions I put into place.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week!

You were definitely right, my mix should have a bit less of compression, and due to using FirComp I just played with mix parameter and I think it helps.
Also corrected jembe part - change the compressor on saturator and drive it a bit.
Cheers!

First: Thank you very much to lift my mix up to round 2!

These are the changes:

Bass: More Compression on the DI, switched to a more distorted version in the Chorus (with Softube Saturation Knob plus Cymatics Diablo Lite) to give it more punch and glue it together with the Chorus Guitars a little bit more.

Kick: Boost at 60hz + 10k plus a bit more parallel compression. Needed to raise the Snare a little bit to balance it out.

Djembe: I used EQ to sculpture the sound with more bite and body, added more compression

Guitars: Fine tuned muddy frequencies in the Verse Solo Guitar. Added a touch of saturation to the bridge guitar (again with Softube Sat Knob) to make the melody sound more consistent.

SFX: I added some Valhalla Freqecho, Galaxy Tape Echo and AKG BX20 to add some kind of „Lost in Space“ mood in the outro.

LUFS: -16.1

Cheers!

Hello for this round, take into account the advice of Mister Fox regarding a certain balance in the chorus part to achieve a better harmony with respect to the whole song.
Add a little more punch to the master buss without coloring in too much.
Thanks to Treeeye and Mister Fox for the good time, I came back from a job in Patagonia just in time for the mix.

Hello.

This is my R2 submission:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tJa9rk ... sp=sharing

I made some changes in the kick and bass, looking for a smoth low end; I improved the balance of the guitars in general, mainly in the rhythm chorus; I made some tonal balance adjustments, mainly in the high end; and corrected the outro, as requested by the band.

Thanks again, friends! :tu:

Mix R-2 with some corrections,

Wav-https://www.dropbox.com/s/vuiyep1oo92ye ... 2.wav?dl=0
24/44

Not much feedback so I continued down my own rabbit hole.

I fixed some phase problems. I also finished working on some of the other parts I did not have time
To on the 1st version drum part Gt part. Revisited some eqing on bass and drums a few things .Had some time so I did some automation on a few parts in different sections.

Really good mixes out there Great job!

I'm happy to be selected for round 2, thanks!

My submission for round 2: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tvao7m306pcor ... 2.wav?dl=0

Changes regarding to 'Verses lacking some space. Sounds too thin.' ...

Guitars
- less attenuation below 1 kHz with low-shelfs
- no emphasis of the upper mids in the parallel distortion (linear frequency-response there now)
- delays louder in the verses
- verse-solo 1 dB louder
- distorted (doubled) chorus-solo guitars 1 dB louder in the 1st chorus

Bass
- changed EQ settings for thicker sound

Piano + Synths
- changed EQ settings for thicker sound and better embedding in the mix

Drums
- changed EQ settings for thicker sound
- reverb and room louder (verses only)

Djembe

- reverb and room louder
- panned 25% left, 0.5 dB louder
- changed EQ settings a little

I rendered my mix a few dB louder than before (-16.5 LUFS integrated, -1.5 dBTP).
And I didn't change the end of my mix (as suggested), because I'm happy with it.

Cheers!

Hi everyone,

Thank you, Treeeye, for choosing my mix to round two and for the comments!

To make my mix better, I followed Treeeye wishes and some volume automation to fix some balance issues. I also took some steps in the opposite direction to return the guitar to its original sound, thus making the mix a little brighter.

MIX r2

Good luck to everyone!

Cheers
