"Plastic" Sound - What Does That Mean?

#1

Post by cpsmusic »

Hi Folks,

My mix for MC073 was described by the song provider as having a "Very plastic sound...". I'd like to try and identify the issue so that I don't repeat it in future mixes.

So I'm wondering what this means from a technical point of view? Is it a tonal balance issue, dynamics, saturation, or something else?

Am I right in thinking that describing something as "plastic" is meant (in general) as a contrast with something "organic" or "warm"?

Any other thoughts welcome.

Cheers,

Chris
