Hello all!
Here you go: my mix
First of all, a big thank you to the song provider, Bellener and Friends represented by @A Future in Noise, and the admin of this wonderful forum @Mister Fox for an awesome song to mix and an awesome challenge!
This is my first time participating in your Mix Challenge so I'm very excited to see how I compare to the rest of you wonderful mixers. I took the liberty of listening to all of your mixes and I have to say I'm quite impressed by some of your visions for this song!
As for my mixing philosophy, I tried to get a more vintage vibe out of this song by using a whole lot of vintage gear emulations and referencing at times with some ABBA songs. I was also very observant of the mono compatibility and the midrange for smaller speakers by using a monitoring plugin (ISOL8 by TBProAudio) and checking in a few monitoring systems (headphones, large monitors in a large untreated room, a small Bluetooth speaker) and I’m quite pleased with how it turned out (the kick is audible even with a 24 dB/Oct HP at 200 Hz!!! (easily checkable in Isol8)). Although you may find the bass lacking (at times), I think it fits the era a bit better. To my ears it’s a good enough mix that I could see on a playlist somewhere lol (but I’m biased hehe).
Anyway, to get on to the good part - the tricks and tips I used to mix this song :
Hope you enjoy and good luck to you all! Can’t wait to hear the winning mix!

Hello everyone
Here is my mix. ITB, CubasePro10.5, FocalsCMS40
Wonderful song ! I had a lot of fun mixing this song!
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XAQ-mF ... sp=sharing
First of all I started by doing gainstaging, track organization, buss routing, phase corrections.
I wanted to keep the pop side of the song with the singing as the main element. Congratulations to the singer, she wins the song!
I used all the tracks provided, no drastic corrections on individual tracks, only tape simulator (StuderA800, Magneto...).
I did a lot of automation on the main vocal, with 1176, LA2a compression.
For the color I mainly used BritishClassA. I didn't use a delay, only reverb (Tsar, Littleplate...), Some reverbs are directly processed in insert.
The main plugins used, Tubetech Channel, BritishClassA, LA2a, 1176, Studer, Frequency, Tsar... on my Mixbuss eqDigitalbx, Tubetech (boost 100hz -8000khz), PecisionBussComp.
I also used in comp // two 1176s in mono with a right-left pan to highlight the important tracks (Vox, solo...)
good listening

Hi everyone !
Thanks to @A Future in Noise and @Mister Fox for this month contest !
Here is my entry : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PXTN1x ... sp=sharing
Kick
Some cleaning first. I cut everything below 30Hz and above 10KHz and remove some muddiness at 180Hz and 600 Hz. Then I added a lot of low frequencies (60Hz) and boosted at 3KHz and 8 KHz. Then comp with a 1176 and a limiter.
Snare
Cut at 500Hz then boosted a lot at 200Hz. Then comp and limiter.
HiHat
Just light boost at 8KHz
Toms
Cut a lot at 500 and 1000 Hz. Boosted lows and highs. Then I used a transient shaper to remove a lot of sustain. Comp and limiter.
OH
Same as HH, just boost at 8KHz
Bass
Removed the 500Hz and boosted lows and highs. Then a light distortion on the highs. Comp and limiter.
Guitars
I decided to not use the DI tracks.
I treated all the tracks more or less the same way. Just the acoustic guitars with a more pronounced treble boost (at 6KHz). Apart from that, I cleaned at 500Hz, comp and limiter. Send to a room reverb
Piano, Strings, Cellos and Trumpets
Boost at 5 and 8KHz. M/S treatment to accentuate the sides. Comp and limiter. Then I played with the stereo field and reverb to place them in the mix.
Vocals
Cleaned at 700 and 2500 Hz. Boosted at 6 and 8KHz. De-esser, comp and limiter. Reverb and delay (room reverb for the lead and hall reverb for the BGV).
Master
Bus comp and Pultec style EQ.
I also added a light vinyl effect at the beginning of the song and during the break.
I hope you will enjoy my mix.
Good luck everyone !

Hello everyone,
thanks for the tracks and the good arrangement. I had fun with it. I also find the singer's voice very pleasant and the way she sings.
Daw: Logic
Plugins: Waves
I compressed the drums in parallel. Here I use a PuigChild 670. Reverb is an Abby Road Plate.
As usual, the bass has an SC from the kick and is compressed and saturated with a J37.
I amplified the guitars with a CLA-2A and modulated them with the Logic X plugins for guitars (Fender Reverb copy).
I also treated the strings with the J37 (compressed and saturated).
I compressed the voice with a CLA-76 and sent it through an Abby Road Reverb (Plate). There are also various delays and an exciter on the voice (of course via mix-busses).
There is an SSL Comp on my main mix bus.
At the beginning of the song I played a little with vinyl effects. In the end I muted the instruments; I like her voice in the silence. Both could be undone with the push of a button.

Hello good people!
Here's my mix:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FQLlSg ... sp=sharing
Have to, in a hurry, go on a trip. Just got time to render and take some screen shoots.
Tracks marked X are parallel compression. Anything you might want to know more about, just ask. Thank you

Hello all,
First thanks for the quality tracks and rich material!
The mix is mostly the sound that I had in my head after the first listen. It reminded me of Helene Fischer as a reference that I used only as a guideline.
The drums needed some envelope shaping and a proper eq and reverb. I used the guitar tracks with FX, gave them some space and a bigger soundstage. The strings and the brass went through an IR reverb to add depth. For keys I ended up using the clean wurlitzer, sounded more in character with the track. Vocals were of a very good quality, needed very little EQ and proper placement. A special attention was given to follow the dynamics of the song and keep the atmosphere.

Mix is here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqpB-RLndYJrlss2OfI ... g?e=1GcL4S
I went for a more modern full range mix.
Drums: Not much was done to the drums other than the usual eq/compression. There was a little bit of exciter on the drums but not a lot, just to make then stand out a little more.
Bass: Ran the bass track through a vintage amp emulation.
Horns: Ran these through an ADT and an exciter along with a little extra eq to try and make them sound more real.
Keys/Strings: The wrlitzer has some distortion added but not anywhere near as much as the rough mix, it also has a widener applied. The strings had a little bit of widener and some saturation to try and bring them alive.
Lead vocal: Did some cleanup on the vocal track, lots of fader riding, multiple stages of compression/parallel compression to make sure they are controlled. Also added some exciter to try and bring the lead vocal alive. Used the standard de-essing, eq, etc. Had to add a little soothe to control the high end after eq boosts to pull out a little harshness.
Backing Vocals: Nothing to special here, usual eq and compression/parallel compression. A few of the backing vocals were double tracked and delayed to add some width.
Overall mix: Usual light glue compression and tape saturation applied.

Heres my mix hope i made it in time hope you enjoy.
i mixed on protools.
my mixbus has the god particle on it with the limiter off.
cant really go in depth because i did quite alot will say i used the lindell69 buss to give it a vintage sound but i still wanted it modern so like an hd mix of an old school song was my approach. <link removed>
also this is my 1st time here not even sure if i uploaded this correctly! let me know thanks.
