BTW, I guess you mean a pallet _cleanser_ (?) I think it make sense, what you're saying ... I have a solo part (the muted trumpet - eight bars - ) but I guess it would be possible to strip down the arrangement even more.

Duh....sorry. My bad spelling. I mean a 'palate cleanser.'A Future in Noise wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 21:15 CETBTW, I guess you mean a pallet _cleanser_ (?) Similar concept to eating sorbet at a restaurant after the main meal...a very clear and obvious change in flavour.
Regarding your solo part, yes I think stripping back the arrangement (removing instruments) and turning up the trumpet would make the solo melody more prominent.
If you send me your tracks, I could do a rough mix so you get a different perspective.

That's very generous of you! But I am a little hesitant. The fact is that I have already spoken to another person with whom I have worked before. It wouldn't be impossible to let you both mix and possibly rearrange. I could then choose the best option ... But from a ... psychological perspective - you might perhaps call it - it doesn't feel quite right. Not right now, anyway. But if I change my mind, and choose to send the files to you, I'll write you a PM, in that case, here on Mix-Challenge. You could log in and check every other day, maybe, for the next week, if you want.

This month, I wrote an instrumental in a metal style, which I think fits in well with this challenge, several guitars have been recorded.
I'm posting now so I can continue to improve the track if some remarks come about mix or others
There's a kind of mysterious fascination in being immersed in the heart of a thunderstorm, a wild, fearsome beauty that inspires both awe and soothing calm.
I've tried to convey this impression with this track.

Nice start to finish. Maybe tone down the cymbals so they sound a bit more lush instead of so spikey? Personally not a fan of the sound effects. Could be fun to try to create the "feeling" of thunder with a tom or typmani or baritone guitar or something? I like the melodies, the guitar layering, good leads.

The mix balance sounds great on my headphones (I haven't listened on high quality monitoring).
I really dig the step up from the minor to the major(ish) melody at 2 mins in...kind gives me the feeling that at that moment rays of sun beam through the stormclouds... a really great shift in the music.
Plus, your guitar playing is stellar. I REALLY like the 'smooth' tone to the distortion on the rhythm guitars.

Interesting idea for the tympani, I'll see if I can do it.
