Also done with my first mix (I'm still considering going wilder on the filters maybe)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U7cQDx ... sp=sharing

As for what I did:
-More snap with some transient designer
-A little pump on the choir and a hint on the verse raps
-lots of different filters on some instruments and the vocals to empaphise diferent highlights.
-Vocal menace on all vocal tracks for compression and equing
-Vocal synth 2 to embelish some of the side vocals more
-ADT to widen stuff
- lowcutfilter for a zoom in the intro and outro

DAW used: Reaper
I cannot access the files, you need to change the rights. Thanks in advance.

Hi there my entry : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1w9HZbb ... sp=sharing

I will start with how i mix or at least how i am trying to :smile: . So i am on headphones but if u ask me nothing is better than desent pair of monitors with at least half good treated room. In the moment i am using Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro and Sony MDR 7506. Over the years i try all the plugins for mixing with headphones sonarworks can openeres realphones sienna and so on and so on just to stop using them at all. Sometimes i open them just to chek mixes but thats all.
808:Soothe in sidechain with the kick a bit hi pass tranzient disainer and saturation.
Kick:a bit of compression and clipping
clap:Saturation revurb adding some highs tranzients again and clipping
Snr:saturation revurb tranzient again to make it at my taste harmonics and a bit of compression
hi hats: again a bit of cleaning eq saturation and tranzient desainer
bells low: dynamicly cutting some lows nad cleaning eq
clean bells: hi pass
piano: hi passing tranzient saturation
choir:hi passing compression revurb saturation and cutting low mids and adding highs
Flute:multiband comression tranzient saturation limiter
Soft sint: saturation and hipassing and cutting low mids
hook bels: limiter
lead: nothing
Low lead: low shelf and cutting a bit some low mids
All of this is rauted to a beat bus with non of a proseccing on it
Hook vocals : soothe for a deesser compression sheiping eq soothe again this "esess" :smile:
verse vocals:soothe - deesser harmonics supresor cleanning eq shaping eq saturation and adding more highs after the saturation
vocal fx: revurb with eq and saidchain to not flutured the mix
diley with eq again
daubler
on the autotuned vocal :hi and low pass trying to do the "radio" fx compression shaping eq flanger saturation revurb fraur motion plugin to create moving fx in the spase
nothing on the adds vocals and fx
mix buss : channel strip plugin with hi passing 25-30 hz and 20 khz some db compression and bass resuming to mono to 85 hz a bit multiband compression and saturation a bit of shaping eq limiter to cut 2-3 db and true pick limiter on the end becouse i was getting 0.9 true pick and instead of pulling down i add second limiter to cut 0.1 db
I think that my mix can benefit from some stuff like gulfost or ozone stabilazer but i like it kinda row sounding and not over treated so i leave it like this .

Hello

I've panned the flute and used a limiter and then a Christmas miracle happened :o

Hello Mix Challenge Community!

I really enjoyed working on this song and appreciated the excellent audio quality of the provided tracks. Thank you so much, Mellow Browne!

You can download my mix here : https://ln5.sync.com/dl/7cc651c90#twbp4 ... 2-syma3siw

Here’s an overview of what I did on my mix, which I worked on in Cubase using Yamaha HS8 monitors with an HS8S subwoofer:

Kick and Bass: I EQ’d the kick and bass and applied sidechain compression on the bass to make room for the kick.
Hook 1 Vocal: I added a subtle chorus effect for a stereo widening effect and for a slight detune effect.
Instruments: I applied a light gated reverb to the instruments for added texture.
Second Verse Transition: At the end of the second verse, I introduced a bass slide-down effect for the transition. Initially, I tried a slide-up to complement the riser effect, but the slide-down felt more effective to me.
Song Ending: I added a shimmering synth effect to enhance the final transition. I let it play out fully until the end, as it sounded better that way to my ears.
Verse Autotune Clean: I applied a filter with a chorus effect for stereo panning.
Ad-Lib Tracks: I used a long reverb to push the ad-libs further into the background, complementing the main vocal. Additionally, I automated delay effects in certain sections for extra depth.
Piano: I kept the piano strong and impactful to create a sense of suspense and tension.
Mix Bus Compression: I used a compressor on the mix bus to glue the mix together subtly.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Cheers,
Paramnesia

Hey Nysa, I really liked what you did with the 808's in your mix do you mind sharing a bit more of the specifics in how you achieved them?

Hi everybody!

Here is the link to my mix: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10iu8lW ... drive_link

I hope it's not too bad, I'm much more comfortable with guitars wall of sound, but that was quite funny to work on this music genre. :P

What is noticable in my mix:
- low-fi automation for the intro (LPF and saturation);
- SC compression for the 808 (kick);
- the 2 hihats are panned, sent to an aux track with some modulation (Cesium);
- Refire for the drums bus (transient shaper, saturation, sub, clipper);
- autopan for the Adds track
- not so subtle saturation for the Hook double tracks, I love the width it creates;
- a little bit of SC compression for the instruments (kick) to get a light pumping effect;
- more automations than I usually do (volume, panning, effects...).

Mixed with Cakewalk (in a small room) and 2 Presonus Eris e4.5 + Presonus Sub8 (and I always like to listen with my iPhone headphones to check after exporting the mix).

I'm curious to hear the other mixes and to understand what I did wrong... :lol:

Good luck everyone!
I really liked your idea to stop the beat with the pistol sound then bring it all back that was a great idea production wise!

And that might actually be asked to be reverted, should the entry be selected for Mix Round 2, as this would be an arrangement change.

Please read again what the Song Provider wrote on the topic of creating additional mutes. Needless to say, that entry is now final - no re-uploads with further changes allowed for the time being (else, your entry is "tagged OUT").

:arrow_right: Once more - everyone, please pay attention to detail on the given rules (bar minimum the Mix Pack bundled "TL;DR Rules.txt") and what options you have to add your own fingerprint to the mix. If you really feel the need to change something that has not been agreed upon, start a conversation about why you feel this change was necessary. Maybe you can convince our Song Provider. However, your task is "mixing", not "(further) producing".

Including today, 15 days left to submit your mix.

It's nothing complicated. I just clean a low mids around 200-400hz and give it a 1db around 1-2khz. In parallel Decapitator on mids and blend it with orginal. Sidechain compression with kick just on lows croosover on MB comp around 190 hz. Bus it with kick and put CLA-76, medium attack and faster release, just little compression to glue it with kick. On low end bus I put dbx-160, MB comp and limiter to glue it little more, about 1db and put Soundgoodizer to shape it together.
