A friendly reminder:
We're in the final 24 hours to submit your mix.
So far, we have 65 entries (compared to 118 Mix Pack downloads).
If you've been sitting on your mix, now is the time to get everything sorted out, post both your link and documentation. Please pay attention to detail. Do not put your entry at risk of being disqualified.
There are several mixes submitted that do not adhere to the given filename specs, or are even accessible to download. Mostly from new participants. This is a one-time warning (again): you can edit your filename on the uploaded service without changing anything else. Do this by the time the deadline has been reached. No re-uploads - your submission is final (I got all files downloaded up until this point, I can and will double check this).
Also try to prevent to post at the very last minute to not run into server issues (see Global Countdown).
There will be no deadline extension!
Let the submission's "final rush" commence...
2024-DEC-25 Info: Happy Holidays, everyone! Please stay safe, have a hot beverage of choice and enjoy some quiet moments (may it be alone, or with friends and/or family)

Hello everyone!
Thank you Mr Fox and Mellow Brown for the opportunity.
Here's my mix:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/12RP8Ps ... sp=sharing
Restricted the width of some stereo tracks sand panned them a bit around to get more width play. On others, I’ve enhanced the width to gain space at the center, with phase manipulation and mid/side compression (Clean bells and low lead).
Shaved, with volume automation, the attack of the 808 when it hits at the same time as the kick.
Tried to give more attack and presence to the 808 with some more saturation and compression.
Several layers of compression and saturation on vocals, on tracks and parallel tracks. Most of the “music” tracks have just equalization. Some compression on flute to even out dynamics.
Some fun with delays and reverbs, filters, and some playing with texture with volume and mute automation.
All Keys are routed to a “music” bus, all voices bussed too. Drum Bus is a bit Mid/Side compressed. All “music” is sent to a parallel compression bus with a bit of vocals too, drum bus and 808 are also sent to a parallel compression bus, for some density and interplay. For that same effect and some color, some clipping, compression, tape saturation and limiting on the master bus. Waves NLS on every bus for some color and supposedly some non linearity magic. I don't know, I like it. Hope you like it too.
Thank you Mr Fox and Mellow Brown for the opportunity.

Hey everyone!
I had fun with this one, great track!
Here's my mix : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fAZxLv ... drive_link
I mixed the track on headphones and sometimes double-checked certain things on the speakers to feel the energy, but 95% of the decisions were made mixing with headphones. Regarding the calibration / correcting software, I used Realphones, not while mixing but as a tool to double check my mix, it's been really nice working with it since I've had it.
One of the main challenges I've faced with the mix is to get all the synth elements to work with each other. There's quite a lot of automation work in the mix to try and give every synth part a voice.
Merry Christmas to you all, and thanks Mr Fox & Mellow Browne for the opportunity!

Here is my mix, I like the song a lot, a change of ambiance comparing to other mix challenges. Sadly I just had a few days to work on it, but very glad for the deadline extension^^
I tried as usual to make the beat punchy, the music full. I had less time to work on the vocals.
Used 4 compressors in parallel for the beat, Softube Tube Tech comp for the vocals.
SSL channel strip everywhere for flavor. A bit of EQ and saturation where needed.
I added some reverb to some part to give them a longer tail (valhalla)

Happy end of year to everyone !

Hello all,
Here is the link to my mix
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fhP1SD ... sp=sharing
I mixed the track on logic pro.
Iam using beyerdynamic dt 770 pro and krk rokit 5 with treated home studio for mixing.
I used most of the logic factory plugins, valhalla revers, few waves plugins, softube saturator etc.
I tried to keep the mix balanced, not too much bass heavy or too bright. But tried to get that punch and low end in the mix.
I did autome hihats at few places. few delay automations for vocals.
Hope you guys like the mix and im excited to know your views on my mix
Thank you.

Hello everyone! Here you can find my MIX.
Drums: A bit of reverb on claps and hi-hats (Seventh Heaven Ambient). Some EQ and Arousor on the drum bus.
Bass: Parallel compression (1176) + RBass and additional saturation (Saturn) on the bus.
Keys+: High-pass filters on most instruments. Some have additional spatial effects like Phaser, PanMan, and Chorus.
Vocals: For the verse vocals, parallel compression (1176) and EQ. Room reverb (EMT 250).
For the hook vocals, the group bus has a 1176 compressor and EQ. Two vocals are completely dry, and the center vocal has a chamber reverb.
Master Bus: Studer + Pultec + Clipper.
Good luck everyone!

Hello all! Here's my MIX!
I'll update this post with an edit of what I did and all the technical details that the Song Provider mentioned we should mention ASAP. I just want to put my horse in the race, so to speak! Talk soon!
UPDATE!
First of all, I did this mix in only one day, today (whoops it's no loger the 24th! It's Christmas! Merry Christmas everybody!) I would have never done it had I not just sat down today when I finally had the time, and I tried to do it as fast as I could. It actually took me only about 5 or 6 hours or so if I don't take into account all of my getting up from the mix to go do housework and help around the kitchen for final Christmas preparations lol!
Anyway, I used only my un-EQ-ed Audio Technica ATH-M50x headphones in a noisy room (radio in the bg almost the whole time lol, can't believe I managed to put together what I did lol) and I only referenced my mix with the provided mixes through them, so no other playback device was used to check my mix nor any other reference material. (Which I usually don't let happen, but I'm away from my usual setup and time crunch...)
I work in Reaper with a custom Braureize template so a lot of analog gear emulating plug-ins in the mix here, and a lot of automation to get it all to work hahah.
As for the mix itself (I won't list every plug-in and setting for everything, prolly for nothing lol, but I will mention some of the more interesting things that I did):
Good luck everyone and happy holidays! Enjoy yourselves and enjoy mixing and listening!

Here's my submission:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DGpkX5 ... sp=sharing
Very fun song to mix, this is close to a lot of my work. I loved that "Trap Trap Trap" was a reference - I was on tour in 2018 and that song + the Black Panther soundtrack was basically all we listened to in the van.
Technically speaking, all I really did here was:
EQ: remove unnecessary low frequencies, attenuate 200hz-ish, boost high on things like the gang choir and flute
Compress: basic fet + opto on vox
tape emulation: lots of difference versions to make things smack and sound dirty without REALLY changing the volume
reverb: pretty much only vocals
I played with the levels of the track elements quite a bit, but I erred on the side of letting the arrangement be the arrangement. So, I didn't add any DJ-esque fx. That would certainly help create a climax, but I'm more interested in the story and the "cycle", be it vicious or nah.
The challenges I had were A. Balancing the vocals and track and B. getting the kick/808 to sit right.
-Re: balancing, JayZ is like the far end of the spectrum where the his vocals are LOUD and the track is like an old walkman playing on a table. That's not exactly trending right now or big in trap, but I felt like this balance was closer to honoring the vocals/story AND the sick beat.
-Kick/808: tricky because I'm used to mixing hip-hop with people that aren't measuring anything besides the NS10s visibly vibrating. If you can see them move, the kick is right. I have the kick lower here only to meet the mix specs, I have to assume that a mastering engineer would make it bump the way it's really supposed to.
Thanks MellowBrowne, this was a great holidays side project.
