The kick maybe needs more attack/presence. The snare is sitting in there well, but the kick is a little off in the mix. Maybe try to get rid of some low mids in the lower backing vocals. I like the special effects you used on guitars and the longer effects on the vocals. Maybe try to get these longer delays a little more in time (seems like they are off beat sometimes). Also maybe try to get them dirtier -> for example saturation on the delay itself, but other ideas are welcome.
:)
OK... all done except the delays.. I searched but I don't perceive the delays out of time, can you please point out in time where they seem that way to you?

added: saturation on delay suggestion... you were thinking about it being applied more in the breakdown part?

Hi!

Round2!

Did some tweaks all over the place, mostly tried to get a good kick, and a less gated snare without losing the punch.
Tried to get the low end of the kick get through the bassgitar.
Some vocal effect "fillings" to spice it up a little, and a little less top on the slapdelay,

I could sit aaaaall to long and tweak, so I just need to submit

Hi fajebru,

Thank you so much for choosing me for the second round!

The only issue I found in your comment was, that the bigger guitars are too dominant and pushing everything else too much in the background. And it is so. I can agree to your statement. So beside some minor EQ changes I left everything as it was and reworked the volume automation and the the EQ setting of the bigger guitars. Now it sounds much clearer I think.

Hi fajebru,

thanks for your feedback, i simply couldn´t hear anymore the mid-frequency issues after hours of mixing ;)
I took your advice, reworked the guitars and slightly re-balanced the whole mix. I think the result is much better now. Many Thanks!!

Hi fajebru,

Thanks so much for selecting my mix for Round 2 and thank you for the feedback.

Here's a link to a WAV and MP3 of my Round 2 submission:

I incorporated all of your feedback for this mix and I think it is a much stronger mix now.

Best,
Michael

I'm late with this, but...

A friendly reminder:
We're in the last 24 hours of the submission period for Mix Round 2 (as of this post, a bit more than 6 hours left)

Thanks for choosing me and feedback. 2nd round mix!

I very personally think my first mix might have "true garage" (underprocessing, very raw tone, less saturation, etc...) feeling but yes, my first mix was kind of like boxy and mid range-y.

So this time, I really tried hard to get out of my comfortable zone. Since previous mix was hugely relied on overall dynamics including mid range, cutting mid by eqing will simply not work. Actually, it was almost complete reform, even if it seems only to applying low-mid frequecy compression and saturation. Retaining overall balance was absolute pain in the ass!

I might changed the mix too much and ideally, there will be a best of both worlds but actually I really enjoyed the song and mixing!

Hello, here my round 2.

In the lead voice I removed a little bit at 2 kHz with a dynamic EQ so that it doesn't pop out of the mix. Also a bit more ambience and delay to get the voice into the mix.

I removed a bit on the kickdrum with the EQ at 840 Hz and added some low end.

With the tomtoms I removed a bit with the EQ at 680 Hz.

Hello, :)
R2 mix here..

mp3: https://app.box.com/s/w5a61y1u7rbmti1iyov6987pjgca947j
wav: https://app.box.com/s/75c3r4qqvyzyatm4zdev7kxng1kua7gn

Many tweaks but most notably:

-Kick mixed to fit better, it was indeed lacking presence/attack quite a bit..
-"Cymbal fest" tamed ... cymbals were too upfront so beware when A/Bing, R2 mix won't seem as bright
-Long delays more upfront and saturated
-Some more phaser instances on certain gtr parts
-GTRs now fuller and better fitted in the mix (they are not too wide but the sound also good in mono)
-Vocals better fitted, also cut some low-mids out of the bg. vox.
-More automation to help with the song's flow
-Overall mix finetuned, denser and more solid, almost everything has been touched :)

Finally, I think I found out what caused the longer delays to feel a bit out of time... there was a plugin in the chain that caused "pre-delay" ... fixed now hopefully.

Besides Fajebru's feedback.
I did some more carving to open up the mix a bit more. i also worked dynamics of the different sections.
did a little bit of riding to get things a bit smoother.

I hope you all like it.

good luck everyone. :tu:
