Hello,
Bevor you go into a mix session, you have to have an idea how the song should sound. In this case I wanted a bit of old school and a bit of modern. All in all it should become more airy than the original mix. Since there are only some clean instruments, i decided to make every instrument noticeable clearly. First of all I made the drums more stomping.
I did some equing and compressing, nothing special. Added some reverb to the drums, guitar and bass. Solo guitar and vocals got the same reverb with different amount.
And here the results of my mix.
mp3: I am alright.mp3
wav: I am alright.wav

Hello,
First of all. I think that this is a great platform especially for young producers and audio mixing enthusiasts.
Now for my mixing approach:
I tried to do a mix of both worlds (old school mixing and modern style).
My main goal was to apply tape saturation on everything, especially on vocal and guitars but not too much like the records in 60's.
I didn't want to destroy sound too much.
Drums:
- the goal was to compress heavy
- on the second kick, I flipped the phase cause the two were clashing and I also added a little bit of low end on the kick buss
- parallel compression on every channel separately rather than on drum buss
Bass:
- I used light compression but sidechain it above 300 Hz that I don't destroy low end too much and I added saturation
- just a little boost in the low end
Guitars:
- tape saturation, compression
- regarding panning, the first guitar was panned 50 % left and second hard right (delayed hard left with delay trough send buss)
Vocal:
- on vocal, I used two compressors (one to emulate limiter to catch the peaks and second for compression but not too much cause I wanted to have dynamics)
- again tape saturation in 60's style
- for color, I used emulation of hardware eq just to add some color and presence in the mix
Reverb:
- just one room verb to blend all sounds
MIX: https://drive.google.com/file/d/17U0gwM ... sp=sharing
Cheers to all

Hello to all,
A little late this time but for the good cause: back to the future .....
I installed my old analog hardware again namely a console Tascam 3200, a stereo recorder OTARI MTR 12, a true STOCKTRONICS
plate reverberartion and a homemade FET compressor. The idea of mixing was to keep the sound closest to the initial recording
in the idea of a "live session". On the technical side we are far from the "mix in the box" and not at all plugins ....
Even from a recording "digital" when we listen to the result of the mix on the tape, we are really in another world son.I have this chance.
I'll let you listen here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qnnv01f78yqvh ... v.wav?dl=0
And good luck to everyone
Cheers
Franz

Hi Guys,
here is my attempt at this months mix.
Went for a more analog feel even though it was mixed in entirely in the box. However, SSL E channel was used on each channel to boost the top and bottom end. No Drum samples were used.
All channels pretty similar:
All drums bussed togther into SSL Comp
Kick: Trans designer adding some attack, Top and Bottom end with SSL E and compression, JST Clip
Snr: Top and btm bussed together, Top, btm and compression with SSL E, CLA Drums on OH setting adding bite, low end and reverb, JST Clip
OHs and Rms: CLA Drms, on respective settings andding top, compression and reverb
DRM parallel compression to add some length to snare
Bass: Maxx Bass, L1, SSL E, CLA Bass adding comp and honk
GTS: SSL E, CLA guitars tweaked from cleartone preset, L1
Vox: SSL E, CLA76 bluey, CLA Vocals for slap delay and reverb, L1
Here is the final version, thanks guys.

Just my little try:
https://c.gmx.net/@317237882228053658/9 ... 6s2VT7ARCA
Done nothing special. filtering the drums a bit, gave the bassdrum some wight and the room some mojo with ubk.
guitars left/right and multed the vox for a bit of width. no hardware, itb only.
cheers, tip

Hello!
Excellent song, top recording, thanks!
The original mix seemed just perfect to me, so this mixing contest is a real challenge!
After a phase relationship verification, I did some volume balance, a bit of eq and a few very light compressions, and stronger expansions.
I applied my stylistic choice mostly with character delays, and spacial adjustments of the musicians in my imaginary stage.
I had in my mind some Michael Landau live records impressions, but did not use any for reference.
You should like it or hate it, but that's my approach.

Fun to mix. I grew up by listening blues and country from 40’s, 50’s and 60’s.
My main reference was T-Bone Walker. So, I was after a retro sound. For the same reason my tools were basic eq, compression and reverbs.
The main challange was to create old style spatial stage that didn’t sound too much like a digital plugin.
Drums: I tried to keep them distant but supportive. I enhanced room track by sending it to faux room made with reaverb.
Bass: mainly eq, compression and parallel saturation.
Guitars: I was after T-Bone sound.
Vox: lots of delays to push singer backwards. I wanted it to have live feeling.

Hello!
Here is my mix. What was the first thing I was thinking about after listening the finished mix of the song provider? Ive never heard such a clean blues track So I tried to do opposite, so lot of hi cuts on everywhere, a lot of tape, bit of reverb on master bus. Generally thats the only things I did
