Hi UprightJoe, and everyone else here... thanks for providing the track. It was a fun song to work on. I really enjoyed it. Glad to have made it to R2.
Here's my R2 submission. I hope I gave your recommendations justice.

I adjusted the highpass of both kick and bass to address the low-end issue.
I lowered and re-balanced the backing vocals against the lead vocal for the three choruses.
Finally, I changed the distortion on the bass guitar for the final verse. Definitely meatier, throatier, and buzzier... is the tone right though?
Congratulations to all!

I'm glad you liked my mix. It was a great song to work on! Thanks to UprightJoe for sharing this amazing song!
Now I have made it less bottom heavy, and turn the vocals down on the final verse. I like to mix it so I rather turn down the bottom a bit when mastering, and at the same time adding some more air.
I hope you like this mix, and good luck to all!
Cheers, KrissK

Thanks for letting me provide a revision. Your comments were well thought out, and I can tell you took the task seriously. I did my best to adjust the issues.
The snare reverb is more neutral and should not stick out.
I took a look at leveling the lead vocals better with adjustments to automation and compression settings.
As for the drum fill pumping issue, I believe I had the toms too dynamic so I compressed them a bit. I also backed off the bus compression as well. Instead of just brightening the master bus I tried to bring out higher frequencies in each sub group. I have a tendency to mix to bright, and originally was too cautious, but after referencing more I think I have a better spectral balance.
Here is my submission

It's the 21st June 2019, 1:30am - the 2nd Mix Round has officially ended.
Sadly, not everyone has sent in an edit (Elver, francobhalla, MichaelLucas)
We have no submissions after the deadline.
Please check your upload links again, and have an eye on this thread for the final results.
I'm now opening up the room (again) for Q&A's and giving each other feedback (which is highly encouraged)
See you on the flipside.

I'm going to pull the revisions into my DAW tonight and start listening. I'll also share with Chris so hopefully I can gather some direct feedback from the songwriter. For those who did not submit revisions, should I be considering their initial revision against the field or are they disqualified?

Got it. Also, for those of you who PM'd me about additional feedback. I'll start writing it up after I finish round 2.

Alright, it was a tough decision but I'm ready to call it.
First place: Optoslam
Second place: Maxoverdrive
Third place: KrissK
I also forwarded the finalists' mixes to Chris the songwriter, but unfortunately he's swamped and wasn't able to give me feedback in time to consider his perspective. However, I'll forward along any feedback that I get from him. I'll also start providing feedback to the folks who have reached out to me via PM as soon as I wrap up a term project that's due tomorrow
