Hello ppl

Here’s my version

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YHl8H8 ... sp=sharing

:hyper: Returning from some time out of the challenges, to gladly entering the opportunity to mix this very nice song.
In this mix, my approuch was to work fast, contrary what I was used to do. And the song is too well produced that this was not a hard task. :phones: :sing:

So, this is what I made:

Drums:
I grouped the two kicks and compressed them moderately with Acustica Audio Gray (approx. 2db of gain reduction); then, I gave a 4db boost in the 60hz region to improve the punch;
I also grouped the two snares and compressed them with the Neold U17 (3db GR);
On the other elements, just equalization for cleaning;
On the drum bus, I used Spiff to bring a bit more bite to the transients and Soothe to control the super highs; then, I inserted the PSP VintageWarmer 2, using the Ceiling function to hold the most prominent peaks and bring a tail.

Bass:
Bus processing; Kirchhoff EQ cleaning 3db at 90hz; Vertigo VSM3 to generate harmonics with saturation; LFOtool for a little ducking;

Keys and synths:
Mostly change was on the piano, where I tried to bring more presence to the mid-highs with equalization; I used Eventide Physion to add a bit of reverb to the tonal part and improve the transients with some slow attack compression; I saturated it with Soundtoys Radiator; I brought a bit more spatiality with Eventide H949 Dual (preset 01-Vocal Sweetener); I held the 600hz region a bit with Soothe and compressed it with Klanghelm MJUCjr.
For the other elements, I’ve only equalized some of them for some cleaning and made some gain changes for better blending;

No changes on the GTRs and Noise Sweeps

Vocals:
On the vox verse and vox chorus, series compression with UAD LA-2A Silver and Acustica CreamComp; some different parameters, depending on the material;
On the BV vox, group processing with Eventide H910 Dual (preset Sweet Chorus) for greater spatiality; then, Eventide Quadravox to simulate two other voices and fatten the BVs;
Bus processing: Audiothing Type A for brightness in the highs; equalization with PSP E27, smoothing a little at 2.5khz and 14khz.

Three reverb channels and two delay channels were used in the ambience:
ROOM: Eventide T-verb (SL Kick Drum Bus preset): control of the treble with the T-Racks EQ-81; received all the buses;
PLATE: Acon Digital Verbarate 2 (preset vivid plate 140) very nice tone; eq to clean the low end; received Drum, Synth and Vocal Buses;
Reverb for vocals: Eventide SP2016 (Stereo Room V preset - initial); in addition to the vocals, I also sent the Synth bus;
DLY: Lexicon PSP42 (Fresh Tape preset); received Piano, Verse Voice and Chorus Voice
DLY2: UAD Cooper Time Cube (Long Echo preset); received the Piano, the Vocal Bus and the Vox Echo.

In the Master Bus I inserted PSP VintaWarmer2 to control ganho and peaks, as well as obtaining a little harmonic saturation; then, some compression with the TDR Kotelnikov GE for better cohesion of the elements.

I apologize for the lazy description of the mix, but I ended up leaving it to the last minute. Later I will post a more detailed description of the moves I made.

Thanks for once more an enjoyable opportunity to mix a great song. You guys please ask anything about this mix if you want. Good luck to everyone! :tu:

Forgot to tell you my mix system. My environment isn't acoustically treated. It's actually my bedroom. I rely mostly on my Audio-technica ATH-M50 to make most of the mix. After, double checking on my pair of KRK VXT6; if these monitors tells me anything wrong, which isn't rare, I go back to Reaper and fix the issue. My interface is a Apollo Twin Solo mk1.

Hi, Mr Fox and BenjiRage, thank you for another excellent song to mix. I very much appreciate it.

My setup: MacBook Pro 2015, Studio One 7 Pro, Headphones, Audio-Technica ATH-M40x RealPhones

After the best part of 3 weeks mixing, something happened to my computer, I don't know if it was an auto update, a related plugin related or Ilok but I lost everything so started again from fresh today so this was a bit of a quick mix for me today (in my world anyway)

I was trying for a Miami Vice Crocket and Tubbs sort of vibe after listening to some references, I've tried to get a clean vintage sound
Everything went through the PA Amek 1099 plugin, then Busses had Elusia compression reverbs, were Sonible Smartverb Tens reverb, and Bettermaker Reverb Delays were stock Presonus.

A bit of sidechain dynamic EQ was used to separate the bass and kick.

Any and all comments and critiques are greatly appreciated Many thanks to all who listen, and hope you enjoy Good luck everybody, all the best

I am lucky I submitted 10 minutes to the clock!!

The vocals were well written, well sang and produced as well the instrumentals.

I challenged myself to mix the song fast paced without over thinking.

I used vocals and the synths to mix first.(I muted the drums in the beginning phase of mixing)

To my surprise I did not use a lot of Plugins
The only plugins that I used alot were Reverbs and Delay.(short, medium, long and very long with side chains)

Comp
JS Tukan
RVox

Reverb
EpicVerb

Parallel Comp
at around -1.0db gain reduction 45% wet Freq 100Hz

Hello,

a great and interesting song to mix again this month.

Since most of the tracks were very clean from the start, I tried to add vibe, space, spice, and some kind of fullness in the spectrum, to try to reach that padded ambiance.

I used SSL channel on all tracks for console vibes.
I used Shadow Hills mastering compressor on the mixbus
I compressed the beat with a dbx 165 clone.
I put a lot tapes, on different busses, and some saturation here and there, on busses, usually I did use them on individual tracks.

Here is the mix : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GDGD97fvLZfZekEkU8t8EDjNGVN8Qc2O/view?usp=sharing

Good luck to every participants, I never get tired of this contest, hope everyone had fun.

Cheers

EDIT : hehe I always mix on the verge, dire conditions, and mentally unstable ppl invading my home. Nevermind. But I realize the first plucked synth is kinda absent from the intro, I clearly forgot to do the lastest full A/B check. But I do note it if by chance I reach round 2 ^^
