I loved your mix for how well balanced it was. The chorus vocals feel so wide and huge its such a powerful moment was really great to listen to how you placed everything.

Hearing how great you got your vocals almost makes me regret thinning out the verse vocals as much as I did it really is a great performance and you did a great job showcasing that.

Personally I felt like the drums were a little bit too dry for my taste I would have enjoyed a bit more room and maybe some verb on them just to help with a bit more vibe.

Really great job with delay and effects on the vocals its all in the right places.

Thats about all I can say your mix is awesome its a great picture of the song thank you for sharing your thoughts! Looking forward to hearing your work in the contests to come!
Thank you very much for the kind feedback, much appreciated . And interesting point on the drums. I think I had the stereo room mics turned way down so I will consider reviewing this.

It's funny, I feel I can't really take credit for the vocals sounding good as they are just so good in terms of performance, emotion, and recording quality so they just seemed to drop right into place - a pleasure to mix!

Could you please explain the reason for the disqualification?"
filename template unused
my entry : mc102_thelasthours_thepersonThatYouSee_phildoc83
Don't know about double underscores but capitalization does matter. I found out the hard way. Ps copy and paste cause a script is used on the files and throws it outta wack if file name is off any.

I think not being able to read and understand instructions is outta whack as well. A bit disrespectful towards the one organising it as well. They're pretty clear:

- Pay attention to detail regarding the file naming. Use the provided
template (see below) - simply copy / paste and then adjust the
ForumUsername. Don't leave white spaces.

Filename Template: MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__ForumUsername.wav

I would love to get some feedback on my mix as well.
I did mistakenly upload a version with muted buses and eq on toms and all keys. But besides that, it is what it is :)

I'll happily return the favour with my limited knowledge.

Thanks to Mister Fox and Edling.

MIX CHALLENGE - MC102 February 2025 - Mix Round 1 in evaluation

Post by Mister Fox »

Folks... easy, please.

I explained multiple times, that I am using scripts which help me create the Statistic Sheets (the initial brunt of the edit). In order for them to work properly, the filename must be as provided up until the forum username. After I run the scripts, I do manual edits (checking that no line was switched around, color codes, adding additional info, etc).

Not only that, there are clients out there that will be angry with you if you do not adhere to their given parameters (e.g. a production facility).

:information_source: I will explain this one last time - and then no more.

:arrow_right: Everything is explained in minute detail in the Multi-Track Mix Pack attached "TL;DR Rules.txt", post #003 of each game, the in-depth Rule Book, and the Statistic Sheet explanation.

I can't make this any more obvious, the TL;DR Rules.txt is already sub 400 words (just the rules section, not the disclaimer) and it provides essential information to cross-reference / check prior to uploading. Explaining this over and over again with every game on our community is a time sink, and on the verge of frustrating.

The users that are affected by this topic (filename template)

Code: Select all

Filename used by participant:
03.02.2025.wav (user: rijavia, ignored the template, entry can't be associated to user - completely out!)
MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee_Mark929-St.wav (one underscore prior to username)
MC102_The Last Hours_ThePersonThatYouSee_komprezzor.wav (no double underscores and white-spaces)
MC102_Thelasthours_ThePersonThatYouSee_Phildoc83.wav (no double underscores and mismatched uppercase/lowercase)
mc102_thelasthours_thepersonthatyousee_pursgo.wav (no double underscores and everything lowercase)
MC102_TheLastHours_ThePersonThatYouSee_DannyC.wav (no double underscores)
MC102_TheLastHours_ThePersonThatYouSee_AlfeusAdityaMix.wav (no double underscores)
MC 102 The Last Hours The Person That You See Loft Productions.wav (no double underscores, white-spaces)
MC102_TheLastHours_ThePersonThatYouSee_Emily_Freudenfeld.wav (no double underscores)

"After the Deadline" entries

MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__ForumOhbeejuan.wav ("Forum" not needed prior to username)

Filename should have been:
MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__ForumUsername.wav

Entries should have been named:
MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__rijavia.wav
MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__Mark929.wav (technically without the -ST info)
MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__komprezzor.wav
MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__Phildoc83.wav
MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__pursgo.wav
MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__DannyC.wav
MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__AlfeusAditya.wav (technically without the "Mix" info)
MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__Loft_Productions.wav (or LoftProductions.wav)
MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__Emily_Freudenfeld.wav

"After the Deadline" entries
MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__knob_houdini.wav (file must be WAV format, not AIFF)
MC102__TheLastHours__ThePersonThatYouSee__Ohbeejuan.wav

I hope this finally explains things.
