Hey guys, J I L L's in da haouse, yo!

So, i used FL Studio, and outside of two saturations by Variety of Sound (they are DemnsityKill and FrederrickTDS) i used only stock for the mixing. Means parametrc eq 2, fruity stuff etc.

I didn't do anything special, just made it a little bit distorted than the other fellas here and, made a fader on master on Paramtric EQ2 at the intro.

Hope it's ok that i uploaded it on Files.FM - you can normally listen to it and download it from there an', it's a wav. file.

Great track off course. Like to listen to it. It's pretty little industrial piece. Thanks.

Hi!
Nice style for the 52, thanks Olly Audio and Mr Fox.

So much possible audio universes for this, I found it quite difficult to decide what to do.
I chose to stay pretty close to the original leads, and I did my best to enhance the whole mix clarity while keeping some of the the massive bass groove and depth of the original.

Long time since I have contributed to this site and here is my take. Sorry for the song provider I just got emotional and I haven't used your reference track. I just mixed based on my professional emotion.

Execpt Distiortion unite from Nomad Factory which can be found inside magma and exciters. Everything else in this mix is Harrison 32C. Oh Reverb is little plate from Sound toys.

Hi everyone.

For this track I decided to follow the reference mix from the provider and expand upon it. My objective was to keep all that low end energy and give the song more depth, space and 3D. In one word, to make it bigger.

WAV: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pf631x0hy9t1i ... 1.wav?dl=0
MP3: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7u374ea4kop9k ... 1.mp3?dl=0

I used the Airwindows console structure as usual.

Lots of compression and saturation on the bus, in several stages, letting the low end breathe thanks to the high pass on the detector of the TR5 bus comp and the PurestSquish bass bloom.

Drums: more saturation and compression to glue and control the low end.

Bass: Used both provided tracks, one for body and the other for definition. Treated the Metallic Bass track as a lead, giving it randomness with RC-20, dimension with the Acon Multiplier and presence with the MV2.

Synths: Flute has an underlying lower octave. EQ and saturation for the guitars.

Nothing too special on the SFX.

And for the effects, mostly verb and some pong delay for the snares and some synths.

Hello everyone ,
It's very fun mixed this kind of music ,very interesting elements and challenge as well , also I must mention i didn't use any drum sample.
My goal is keep the music balance , interesting of course , but actually my main goal is keep it enjoyable as possible to listen many times especially it's a heavy bass track.

-Snare
-Eq and compression just a little and I used crystallizer to redesign a snare (hit) sometimes in mix .
here is my setting .

My mix around -19.8Lufs , welcome to any comments or discussion.
Good luck to all

Cool track! I mixed it in Ableton. I used default EQ8 on each track, and also free TDR Kotelnikov and Nova vsts.
Also I used quite often Utility module to reduce hyper wideness of these tracks.

Dear Olly Audio and the Mix Challenge Community:
I wasn't going to post this mix, but I figured that since I spent so much time on it I'd throw my hat in the ring. Anyway, here are the files:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/joj93i32oqjyf ... d.wav?dl=0 (WAV)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/44wqaa267xt2d ... d.mp3?dl=0 (MP3 for reference)

My usual disclaimers: Everything was done ITB using Logic Pro X. No samples were used, and nothing else was added or removed. The seven dry tracks were used in lieu of the tracks with printed effects. Then every track got high- and/or low-passed as needed to get rid of any unnecessary information.

I basically broke the song into 10 separate elements: drums (kick, 2 snares, hi-hat,& 2 percussion), basses (bass dry & metallic), guitars (dune & lead), flute, and then the six remaining pads/noises/effects (whatever you want to call them) each got their own treatment.
  • Drums:

Kick & snare got basic EQ cuts and compression. The snare triplets have an instance of Little AlterBoy (Soundtoys) automated to shift the pitch and provide some motion. Snare Synthetic TR is pretty wet with ChromaVerb (stock) digital reverb. Hi-hat, just EQ'd to tame harshness. The two percussion tracks were bussed to a stack. The stack was hit with J37 (Waves) for tape saturation and then through Ozone 8 Imager (iZotope) to center the low stuff below 200Hz. All of the drum tracks were run to a buss with Abbey Road Vinyl (Waves) with the TR Desk emulation engaged and the input cranked. Followed by some heavy parallel compression with the help of Kotelnikov (TDR).
  • Bass:
Bass dry: EQ-->Trash (iZotope) for saturation-->Ozone 8 Vintage Compressor (iZotope)-->Dynamic EQ to duck out of the way of the kick.
Bass Metallic dry: EQ-->Trash-->Dynamic EQ.
  • Guitars:
Guitar Emu Dune dry: EQ-->Trash (for light distortion).
Lead Guitar Distilled Modular dry: EQ-->EffectRack (Soundtoys) for some ambient delay.
  • Flute:
EQ-->VocalSynth (iZotope) to give it some human-nes-->EffectRack with a bit of Tremolator (for movement), Decapitator (for crunch), FilterFreak (for more movement), and EchoBoy (for echo, obvs)-->U73b Compressor (Audified) for color and control.
  • FX:
The remaining tracks have an array of effects ranging from EQ, to auto pan, to tape delay. I'll gladly go into specifics if anyone is interested, but the basic idea was to give each sound its own little world to hang out in.

The mix buss has an instance of CLA MixDown (Waves) for "glue", and Nova (TDR) to shape the EQ curve and control some of that heavy bass.

Enjoy, and thanks for listening.

Best regards,
Jeff

Hi-di-hoh!

Unfortunately I am out of time and wouldn't be able to participate in round 2 (IF my mix was chosen), but I don't wanna just let it go to waste, so I upload it anyways. I would have loved to add some movement like filter sweeps and such, especially to the intro and break. Also I am not quite happy with the metal bass and how it sits especially in the first half (a little loud and harsh), but oh well... listen to it, or don't, maybe it's good for a little inspiration for one of you. :) I heard a lot of cool ideas in your mixes!

Olly, it would be cool if you'd just drop a line if you liked the general direction, but I can understand if you don't have the time with all the mixes that are coming in. I referenced to Laake quite a bit and I think I know where your droning bass inspiration is coming from. ;) Those chorused synth basses with a lot of sub are always a tough one. Laake's is super chorused yet well controlled and doesn't muddy up everything. I wonder how he achieved that (it's not just mono maker :hihi: ).

Because I'm out, MP3 only: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1WY_Ow ... udqQWPZxxo

Cheers and see you next time :phones:
