Mixed in Presonus Studio One 4 Professional
Mix Notes - my goal was to keep this song sounding as live and natural as possible. I used very little in the way of effects. I cut out some of the mic bleed from the guitar and vocal tracks to clean up the mix a bit but left it in the other tracks. It helped keep the mix sounding live.
Drums
Each drum channel treated independently using stock EQ and routed to parallel compression bus where I used Waves H-Comp to slam the routed drums. Also routed the drums to an effects bus with Toneboosters Reverb.
Bass
EQd channel with Bass Professor MK2 by Sonic Anomaly and compressed using Waves H-Comp.
Guitar
Stock EQ with HP filter and H-Comp on the channel, then routed to Toneboosters reverb bus and Waves Super Tap 2 slap delay bus.
Vocals (chorus)
Stock EQ with HP filter and Waves TG12345 on the channel for color and compression. Routed to slap delay, reverb, and parallel vocal compression (H-Comp).
Vocal (verse)
Stock EQ with HP Filter and Waves TG1234 on the channel for color and compression. Used a different stock reverb on the channel for the verses. Routed to slap delay and parallel vocal compression.
Keys
Stock EQ on the channel, routed to reverb effects bus.
Sax and Trumpets
Stock EQ and H-Comp on the channel. Routed to reverb effects bus and slap delay effects bus.
Mix Bus
Stock EQ, Waves SSL Compressor for glue compression, and Toneboosters Morphit EQ correction curve for mixing on headphones that simulates a flat frequency response.
