It is thanks!

Bombest Bomb I don't seem to have the MP3 version in that link, could you double check?
I didn't add mp3, only the wav file as the rules state.

I should be able to add a mp3 in a day or two.

Hello,

Thank you Chris for this cool song.

Unmixable productions exist, however yours is totally fine and I like the result (you may not agree of course). This last point involves good music and arrangement, and I think we have both here.
Okay the timing isn't perfect at all, but we have tools for that. In a real life scenario why would you pay someone to make your song shine if the engineer do not want to edit the timing? Or if does not like the song? In this scenario I would say "no problem" with your production, really.

As far as my process is concerned:

This was made totally in the box, Reaper is the DAW.
I used master bus compression.
I mostly used eq and compressions when needed.
Softube Saturation Knob was used on kick and bass.
I sent reverb on some guitars and the tambourine. Bass has lot of reverb too, I know that's crazy.
Drums goes to a bus with compression.
I automated a lot of different delays (obvious isn't it?) on the vocals.
There is also a delay on the overheads to add a little groove on the drums.
I automated the track volumes a lot.

I hope you will tolerate so much fx on your song, I have tried drier approaches before I came to this way of enhancing the song, personal taste involved here and I like mixing bold.

Good luck with so many listenings to analyse and feel so many versions...

Good luck everybody too, and long life to the Mix Challenges!

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1G20U- ... 1WCj0YVn5J (Mp3)

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1E_WLB ... DDHBVM9-nX (Wav 16/44.1)

Steps:
Each track treated with EQ and a little compression when necessary and I also add some tape saturation and distortion.
Drums were grouped and added parallel compression, EQ, transient modifier and a little distortions.
Reverb is only on the snare.
Bass grouped together add some comp and is being SC to the kick.
Guitar used a classic widening tech- pan hard L&R, add very short delay on both, a little EQ and Comp and some stereo widener, No reverb.
On the piano I add very short delay (1/16) with short feedback, heavy compressions, then use Output Movement to create reverb and more longer delay.
I duplicate the vocal tracks one dry with heavy compression and the other with some fx ie:
EQ, Comp, very short 1/16 note delay and some feedback as insert, vocal slap preset from Eventide H3000, Echoboy slap delay, hall reverb and Valhalla delay.
Backing vocals : EQ, comp and clipper from newfangle audio
On the master bus: Only mild compression, no EQ, no widener, no tape saturation, no other compressor and there is limiter but the whole track only peak less than -3db. that's it

I work in Studio one and the list of the plugins used :
All EQ: Melda dynamic EQ
All comp: Melda Turbo Comp and Hornet comp
Saturation: Softube harmonic saturation, Decapitator and
Stereo: Melda Stereo Spreader
Delay: Echoboy, Valhalla Delay, BX 2500 delay and melda MdelayMB, Eventide H3000
Reverb: Melda Mreverb, Valhalla vintage verb
Distortion: Melda Mwave folder
Analyser: Melda Manalyser
Sub: Melda Mbassador on kick
No hardware processor

Thanks

Hi guys,

Just to let you know I am going through the mixes (everything before this post has already been downloaded and marked), I've heard some pretty work so far too :-)

BombestBomb: Don't worry about the MP3, I double checked it and it's fine (my bad).

Mixed in Reaper v5.51.

Why are you using an old REAPER version? There is already a newer version.

Here is my submission for this round.

WAV: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ovvn7590tjqy8 ... n.wav?dl=0
MP3: https://www.dropbox.com/s/syxm8aj4bzpdv ... n.mp3?dl=0

I found the recordings to be fine and certainly workable (I've worked on a lot worse, mostly mine!). No drum samples or reinforcement used. Buss compressor with 1-2dB reduction and tape plugin on the 2 Buss, no other processing on the 2 Buss. I have chosen to use the tuned vocals only. I didn't find any of timing issues distracting so I made no edits with regards to timing. I didn't want to change the feel of the song by tightening up the timing.

Drums:
Kick: Low end boost but not too much to accentuate the beater as too much click made the kick seem unnatural in context.
Snare: Boost around 200Hz and 4kHz with a cut around 700Hz. Parallel compression and some plate reverb
Some saturation and parallel compression on the drum buss.

Bass: Used Bass Amp Room on the DI track and blended with the original

Gtr: Boost at 3kHz and transient shaper to bring out some sustain. Plate reverb

Keys: Not too much done to the keys, boost around 5kHz and cut at 300Hz, added some saturation

Vox: Used Deleight for some slight chorus effect on the main vocals. Automated delay/reverb fx on parts of the vocals. Mostly used a small hall reverb for the vocals.

Hope you enjoy, good luck everyone!

Mixed in Logic primarily using Waves plugins.

I used tuned vocals and didn't edit the timings.

Thank you for the song, Chris.

Hellow, here's my mix.

WAV: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UvkHy4 ... sp=sharing

MP3: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jzmqMH ... sp=sharing

DAW: Studio One 4.1

I imaged Irish folk music for this mix、with little contemporary feels. I thought dreaming guitar reverb for dreaming music will be nice.

----- I used AMS Neve 8816 summing mixer, but it's only for mixdown process. Not for mastering process. Of course, no compressors no EQs on master section. Every compressors and EQs are used only for tracking.

I've enjoyed mixing. Great vibes!
