Hi,

here is my mix. Nice song, pleasant to mix. The production is really good !
Done in Logic.
Drums : as fat, full and upfront that was possible for me.
Lot of parallel comp. (plus a huge unrealistic snare verb during the verses)
Bass : nothing special
Guitars Comp+Eq
Vocals, classical stuff too+ Distortion. Duplicated 3 time the track to add some atmosphere
Some creative delay fx.
Used the 3-4 guitars Di track (boost+marshall by scuffham and boost plus UAD plexi)
Tape+Slight comp+Eq (masterbus)

Tried to provide a balanced and not-too-bright mix, by referencing.

mp3
wav
Good luck !

No samples on the drums, just re-amped the clean guitars.

Cool track!

Ack, I thought I had until the 24th for some reason! Anyway here is my mix, even though I didn't have as much time to work on it as I would have liked. :face: Feedback is MUCH appreciated!

wav: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cdid8uqm4povx ... n.wav?dl=0

Mix notes:
EQ and varying levels of saturation on everything.

Everything sent to a room reverb.

Airwindows Console4 used across the mix.

Bass: Mixed DI with reamped DI, used a compressor to keep the low frequencies even.

Guitars: EQ. Used all six amped guitars. Reamped DI's 3 and 4.

Drums: Used everything but OH C, ride, and Room S mic. Reverb provided by mix-wide room reverb and a plate on the snare. Snare, overheads, toms, and bass drum got compression to help the hits have a stronger impact. Used a gate on the Snare top mic.

Vocals: Volume automation pre-fx to level everything out a bit before the effects chain. Compression to help level it out more. Echoboy with Analog Vocal Slapper preset. Also made a couple of duplicates of the vocal track for effects and additional echoes during otherwise quiet times in the song.

Hello everyone,

this is my first post and also my first entry :)
I've been following this community long enough and now wanna try to be a part of it :)

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1i4Kuu ... DDpq-6QxGn

I tried to balance all the elements the right way and spend a lot of time getting the bass sound nice. so i couldn't avoid reamping the DI.
Drums needed a little EQ especially kick and snare in a subtle way. and snare compression. used parallel compression for the drums. All the guitars
nearly completely untouched. Just used a litte bit of the Harmonic Maximizer here and there. Spend the most time with the vocal part which sounded very
good from the beginning. Additionaly lots of Returns for a mix of different reverbs and delays, also distortion effects for the vocals.

Thats it :)

Hello,

sorry, in a big hurry, no time to chat... mix still needs work especially with the vocal volume and other automation.. hopefully I'll make it to the 2nd round :D

wav: https://app.box.com/s/nt20h5u1599fv02ttc01dsucy78dtu3k

tip for mixing:

do mix also in mono but also balance the sides for a nice stereo image that doesn't seem hyped.

Hey folks, I'm Stu, long time lurker, decided at the last minute to have a go at this as my first submission here. Really enjoyed working on these good quality tracks. Thanks.
First up, apologies for making the end section way too loud!

Guitars - Re-amped all the tracks. Amplitube for the cleaner sounds, Recabinet 4 for the heavier ones. Echoboy on all tracks. FabFilter eq, Sie Q, Decapitator. TDR to control the upper mids. The faint organ-y type sound in the breakdown is Crystalizer and Tremolator on the gtr buss.

Hey guys,

I just found out about the mix challenge this morning and have decided to give it ago.

So these are the download links to the files:

WAV: https://we.tl/t-9o0dse59zi
MP3: https://we.tl/t-O1KrHORUHf

So, in short, I've tried to respect the dynamics of the demo, I presume the artist and the producer gave us an idea of how they're hearing the song.

As far as the technical stuff, I just did a bit of editing to the voice and the guitars(strip silence), compression, eq to make everything fit together. A bit of volume automation on the BD for the choruses(to get closer to the demo), verbs, delays and automated delays on the voice, took the busses through a Slate VTM, did a mix bus eq, and sent the mix to an empty bus with an s1 imager insert on it, to widen the mix a bit.
No master processing applied.

Hope you guys like it, any feedback would be appreciated .

I used mainly Slate plugins and a tiny bit of waves,SPL and S1 stock delays.

DAW: Studio One 4

Later edit: I just realised I forgot to put mc047 on the file names, I left it mc000. I apologize for that!
