The stereo overhead side track (Room S) was actually a mono signal with left and right channels flipped out of phase. I converted back to in phase then added some slap echo to create width. That sound provides the drum ambience.

I rolled off the high end of the subkick above 220Hz which gave the overall kick a tighter sound.

The lead vocal tracks are great as-is, IMO, but I spent some time tightening and tuning the backing vocals using Revoice Pro and Melodyne.

Basic compression, EQ and gain riding throughout. Nothing fancy. Song rocks as recorded!

hi all!!

Because there was no kick in
I gave up on doing a tight mix.

First of all, I started to mix around the luxurious room and ambience,
put up each instrument in the space where it should be, and just put bass on the drums.
plz enjoy :tu:

Here is my mix entry. Thanks for the music. It was awesome!

MP3: https://drive.google.com/open?id=15Pnn5 ... AZJl8Mmhsy
Waves: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1vPwlY ... g_DNefw87f

EQ's and compressors across all tracks
Kick: add a tiny boost at 77Hz, paralleled with a duplicate with rolled off bottom end up to 700Hz to get the smack.
Snare: boost at 200Hz for body and shaved off a little bit on the top end.
Guitars (all): panned hard left and right with different setting of compressor to widen
vocal: moderate compression to even out peaks. HP up to 120Hz, cut a little at 430Hz

Hope you like the mix.
Best of luck to everyone!

Hi, Everyone.

This is my mix.

-

I used Protools.

I used panning for most of the tracks in order to make the sense of space,
taking care not to let vocals and guitars collide, and not to let bass and drums collide.

I tried to revive the overall balance and sense of space.
It is in harmony with the band sound, but it does not allow the vocal to be buried.

I do not reamp for guitar. I used only original tracks for all.

I paid most attention to my balance, especially Guitar and Vox.

I hope you like it.

Good luck to all the participants.

Hello,

was a great fun!

All in all quite standard, nothing special with the mix. A lot of back vox were to capture. I reduced the reverb effect to a minimum and the solo git got some small delay. A lot of vox dynamics were to tame. There I used VCA and tube compression in combination. On master track there is a TDR Kotelnikov for glueing and a bass cut.

Hello! This is my first Mix Challenge entry and I'm really excited about it! This song was an absolute treat to work on, weil Ich Deutsch sprechen kann. Also the singer has an amazing voice so I spent a good amount of time cleaning up the lead vocals and fitting the track around them. Did my mix entirely ITB using Logic Pro and listening back through a combination of my Focal Alpha 80s and Sony MRD7506s with Sonarworks calibration. I leaned heavily on Waves and Slate plugins, with a few selections from Sonible, Soundtoys, Softube, Izotope, and Valhalla. I even used Logic's stock Phat FX on the guitar DIs to help them beef up the amp siganls. I stuck to the audio provided, fighting the urge to add a Kick In sample. Instead, I duplicated the Kick Out and processed it to get some beater. Actually ended up throwing out the room mics as there was an awful lot of room already present. Used a cocktail of fx including Abbey Roads Vinyl to help bring the drums to life. For the bass and guitars, I wanted to use the band's sounds so I just enhanced them with some eqs amd comp, and was happy giving the guitars a lil API treatment as well as a kiss from an Aphex exciter. I treated the BVs as a pad though with more time I'd like to go in and dial in those in a bit more. Mix bus was a simple Slate tape and FG-MU for glue then a little bit of premastering with Ozone to ballpark it with commercial levels.
Once again, really happy to have worked on this song, much love to the band for putting it together and espceially to the singer! Such a great performance! Look forward to hearing everyone else's mixes as well as your feedback! Cheers and good luck :)

HI, here is my submission for this round.

WAV: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l5djckvegl05k ... n.wav?dl=0
MP3: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xn1kkqn4segjh ... n.mp3?dl=0

No drum replacement or samples used, only a tape plugin used on the 2 buss.

Drums
Kick - Healthy boost around 4-5k to bring out the click and slight dip around 400hz
Snare - Used bthe Hollywood tube saturation with some thickness and shimmer on the revival plugin plus a little air and some reverb
Drum Buss - Used a transient shaper for a bit more punch and the sugar plugin for some saturation. Some small eq adjustments on the rest of the kit.

Bass - Ran the DI through Bass Amp room

GTR - DI tracks put through THU and blended with the amp recordings and sent to GTR buss. BX Shredspread on the buss.

VOX - Used Fission to remove room noise from first part of the vocals and a high HPF to remove the low rumble. Tried to get the different recordings to match before any eq or compression. BX Room used for the reverb.

Good luck everyone
