A few word about this month's theme:
Staff (Mister Fox) wrote:"Tanzmaschine" is German for "Dance Machine". But not the one where you step on arrow plates to control a dance arcade machine. It's time to dig out your old drum machines and create some grooves from the underground...

This month, the challenge is to create a Techno track (not longer than 8-10 minutes!) that would fit into the 90ies to very, very early 2000s style-wise. Techno is not EDM. Techno is minimalistic, techno is (can be!) repetitive, it's like a working machine, creating hypnotic yet powerful rhythms. You've heard of "Detroit Techno", you heard of "Minimal", "Banging", Japanese Techno (JTek), German Techno (Schranz), Italo Techno, etc ...

That's where we will dive into this month. And you might be needing a cheat sheet like the old and infamous "Ishkur's Guide of Electronic Music" (needs Flash) to get acquainted with this genre niche.

Songwriting Add-On Rules:
  • You can use whatever is at your disposal (samples, virtual instruments and/or real instruments)
  • creating your own sounds is highly encouraged, but not mandatory
  • It is recommended to not go higher than -14LUFS SLk (avg) or K-12v1 (avg) in terms of perceived loudness

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please take note of the official rules - they can be found at the following thread:
Songwriting Competition - Official Rules and Guidelines

Please address any OT question in the official Gossip thread:

Hey guys,

my first attempt on the SWC. I have a track which some listeners declared as late 1990s schranz... Don't know, it's to long ago.
Hopefully the track meets the critery to enter the competition.

The track was done in Bitwig with Synth1 as only VSTi Synth, only accompanied by some mixing VSTs.
It was initially meant to be part of One Synth Challenge but I withdrew it out of a strange notion "of gotten bored after some months of participation"...
Anyway, thanks for listening, hope you enjoy my track and let's go schranz! If you like leave me comment on soundlcoud. Thanks in advance...

Hi Peter:H, thanks for joining the competition.
Could you please offer a downloadable version as well? Not everyone has a Soundcloud account.

Technically, that track was also released prior to the SWC11 (see Rules and Guidelines, which should be familiar to users that frequent KVR Audio) - but the SWC is all about "producing something" - so I'll let this one slide. The more participants, the more fun for everyone.

Welcome to the forum. :tu:

Hi Mr. Fox,

I have added the DL Link to my original post. I hope Dropbox is okay.

And thanks for having me despite my track is violating the rule. I usually tend to finish mid field in OSC, therefore I think there's no danger that anybody has to actually complain about "taking away a price but violating the rules" ;-)

Looking forward to the other tracks!

Best Regards
