I do not know how to spell jam. Gem is a live improvisation and it's played. But I tried to make it look like a jam from one of my acoustic songs. I used an acoustic guitar, a synthesizer, a bear bone saxophone and a piano. The composition was seasoned with African percussion.

Hi there,

this is not properly a jam session but, by jamming, I totally rewrote a song that sounded pretty metal, into a pop song.
Totally fresh, just finished, no time to polish because I'll be far for vacation, for too weeks.
Recording based on a jam track vocals+guitars, hopefully tracked on a clic track.
Guitar = Tokai Love Rock from Japan. Uad Marshall amp. Recorded in Logic, using almost stock plugins + some slate stuff.
(Destroyed) Strings from Logic, Synth from Logic too. Bass played with an old crappy Vantage e-bass.
Was the first take with a second hand pretty cheap Ribbon microphone (vocals), I founded that it was pretty smooth,
and a good way to fight against the harshness of my voice.
No time for a multitrack drums work, only a 2 tracks stereo drums track (stock from logic Drummer, a largely customised midi track)

The song is not about summer, just about a friend who died 3 years ago.

MP3
wav
If you think my song is out, nevermind, it's just music !!

Cheers

A friendly reminder:
Including today, 14 days left to submit your production.

Keep in mind, this months it's not important what genre you delve into. Just make music, collaborate, do a jam session with your friends (even if it's only 1-3 mics in your basement). Let us revive the SWC and exceed 10 participants this month. So please, do spread the word!

I might also be pushing my luck within the boundaries of the rules this time round but I can assure you I was definitely dreaming of summer, and I consider every time I play to be a 'jam', so with that in mind, I think Mister Fox might turn a blind eye in favor of a bit more participation (hopefully).
The song, "Flow Through" basically started as a collection of hard rock riffs that I felt worked well together, to which I wrote a bassline and some prelim drum tracks (Slate Drums).
I then handed the rough draft to long time friend and ex bandmate Mark Smith to see if he could help out arrangement and lyric-wise, to which he did and I was sent and entire rough demo of the lyrics and vocal melody/delivery.
A bit more to and fro between Mark and myself, until we reached a stage where we were both happy with the final arrangement at which stage I reached out to another good friend Jones Nelson to help lay down a final version of the vocals Mark had been written.

Will come back "soon" and post some additional production/tech related stuff I promise. Cheers yo.

"Flow Through" lyrics

A thousand smiles of disbelief
Hide my golden dawn beneath
Sister brother be the light
The time has come for you to...

Fight. Die
C'mon we deserve to
Fight. Die

All I have has gone away
While you're flowing through me
Take our time what's left today
Why you flowing through me?

Waking up I feel at ease
No more living on my knees
All my senses come to life
The time has come for me to

Fight. Die
C'mon we deserve to
Fight. Die

The track reminded me of rest near the sea. Interesting.
