Hello all,

Here's my take on this song:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ujtpdwqrnygyh ... i.wav?dl=0

My process:

DRUM BUS - Kept it quite simple with a bit of parallel compression and reverb send to a small hall (OverHeads only).
Took a bit of time to make the snare sound as I wanted, using Sonible entropyEQ.
No gate was used whatsoever, as the spill from other microphones was too big to achieve the sound I wanted
PERC BUS - Nothing special, but a bit of send to the small hall and a parallel Exciter blended a bit
BASS - A bit of limiter to even out the notes and bring everything forward and a bit of EQ to carve out frequencies
GUITARS BUS - Before hitting the Guitars Bus, I did some automation for the LEAD Guitar, just to emphasize the solos, and finishing with some Low and High Pass plus a bit of compression using Wave's MV2
ACOUSTIC GTRs BUS - I've used some Acoustic Guitars IRs on NadIR, and sent a parallel signal to a bit of some drive and dbx-160 just to tame the peaks
KEYS BUS - Just kept it as is, no EQ or other processing, blending in the sounds
LEAD Vocal BUS - Tried to tuned it a bit using Melodyne (being careful not to overdo it). Used a bit of Plate, a 1/4 Delay and some chorusing effect sends, just to place the vocal in a space
BACKING Vocal BUS - Tuned a bit BGV-AHH Alto track, just to get rid of the pitch drift for the long notes

Hope it turned out fine
Cheers

Hi everyone, here is my mix: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l4m0pckfs8wp3 ... v.wav?dl=0

It was a big chalenge to put drums together
- I have to use UAD plugs on Drums BUS like a Ampex ATR-102 tape machine, Pultec Pro EQ and FATSO.
- Other drum tracks like, kick, snare, OH Bus, are mostly processed with Waves Producer Custom plugins.
- Bass was duplicated and reamped by Waves CLA and UAD Ampeg SVTVR.
- Guitars and lead vocal are also processed with Waves CLA, keyboards and back vocals are basicaly untouched.
- Next big chalenge was Acoustic guitar, wich has (sorry) crapy sound and it was not played well. Here I used UAD Pultec MEQ-5, Waves SSL Compressor and Waves GTR Stomp with chorus and reverb.
- Intro Sample was processed with Sugar Bytes EFFECTRIX.
- On Master bus is UAD RealVerb - Pro with 15% of Small Briht Room Preset.

That´s it!

Because I am slightly out of skill, I spent about 8 hours for the mix made on Reaper DAW.

Best Regards to everyone!

This one is soooooo midwest US bar band. :) I just need to spill some beer(Spotted Cow please!) on the mix console, stick some gum to the floor, get a batch of cheese curds in the fryer, and pull up a stool. And the turn it up loud.

This isn’t a style I usually work on so I enjoyed getting to try out some new things and really play up the 70's “vibe.” Thanks for the opportunity!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/te448dgjfs7qg ... r.wav?dl=0

General Mix Notes:

• Mixed in Ableton Live 11
• Monitoring via Slate VSX
• u-He Satin on most every individual track to add more “vibe” and glue everything together
• Most every track hi-passed to taste

Drums:

• Used u-He Presswerk on the drum bus for some parallel compression and saturation
• Spent a fair amount of time working on getting the room bleed under control for most of the drums. Using FabFilter Pro-G helped me tame the bleed for the most part
• Achieved a really nice snappy crunch on the snare using a parallel saturation in FabFilter Saturn

Guitar:

• Used panning automation on the guitars to make the chorus open up and feel more wide
• Lead guitar panned to the side for most of the track to fill out the soundstage and moved to the center during the solo sections

Vocals:

• Used Vallhalla DSP Vintage Verb on the vocals to give it a 70’s reverb vibe

Master Bus:

• Added a small amount of bus compression (around 1-2 dbs GR) on the master using Ableton’s stock Glue Compressor (Cytomic) to glue the mix together

Hi,

this is my mix

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oQCt_w ... sp=sharing

I didn't use any esoteric processing or plugin, 100% in the box, only gentle Wave Tune for vocals.

I tried, as I usually do, to be 100% respectfull using transparent processing.

Hope you'll enjoy the end! :hihi:

Many thanks.

Ciao!

Here’s my take, 100% in the box (Logic).

I haven’t done anything special in any channel: my main aim was to give every instrument its place, in order to not hide anything the artist decided to record. Specially in the busiest sections, with three acoustic and two electrics guitars, main and background vocals, lots of percussion, keys etc it wasn’t obvious to figure out a way that made everything sit correctly.
The other challenge was to clean most of the tracks from the “boxy” frequencies they had, trying to make everything a little bit cleaner.
Also i tried to keep the alive feel that the recording has, without over-reverbering the thing.
The vocals have no autotune.

More or less every track has got the same component and routing:
Graphic EQ
(Limiter in those tracks with unwanted high peaks)
EQ/Dynamic Channel strip to color (SSL like for drums, Neve like for all the others)
Compression side chain in 2 tracks
Fx/Sends

Then they go to their groups (drums, percussions, guitars etc) where there is an eq into comp and finally to the master bus, with anything in it.

The plugins used are free products from Analog Obsession, Voxengo, Acustica Audio and the Logic stuff.
Mixed in a Macbook with consumer headphones fed by the built in jack and nothing else.
