Blimey, a lot of entries!

Some listening to do tomorrow morning then....

I'm away in the afternoon and back Sunday night so will write up all my feedback and do the first round judging etc on Monday, which I have cunningly booked off work.

Thanks, and good luck!

This is such a good song. DT I love your stuff. Unfortunately this is a shitty mix. Somewhere along the line I fried everything, and just never got a handle on the low end. If I had more time, I'd pull everything down and start over. But, here we are.

I think I managed a some interesting details (control...troll...troll), and happy accidents. So I'm going ahead and entering it.

Your mixing and effecting is badass btw, I really liked your second reference mix.

Hey! glad to be back, this song was very challenging to mix :exhausted: , the density of instrument layers gave it some kind of orchestral feel to it which is very interesting!

I had almost finished mixing this track 2 weeks ago and I was really happy with the result but unfortunately my hard drive broke and I lost all the files  I struggled for a couple of days to make a copy of the files but it won´t let me :curse: so I eventually started mixing again from scratch. I think it´s pretty similar to what I achieved on the first try.

I used automation on mainly on panning, levels, and some delay feedback on the vocals to make a transition at the end of the track.

So here it is, I hope you like it!

Aaaaaatgh, I think a lot of us have been there and feel your pain. I've got 2 pc's (laptop and desktop) now with my song files on both, and I still worry!

Just been listening to a few more (no specifics yet!) and have been struck by how different people have put the emphasis on different tracks, and how much it changes the feel of the song. On some of them I was thinking, 'I don't remember that even being in there' :hihi:

As I said right at the start, it was an absolute bugger to mix for me, and I (sort of) know what's going on with it. That's why when Fox gave me a list of the ones he thought would be good for a contest, I chose this one; it's not really typical of what I do (usually more guitars, lots, lots more...) but it's very layered and would be hopefully both challenging and gives scope for a bit of creativity.

Anyhow, enough waffling...

Hey all, here´s mine... still one hour left, I´m pretty fast this time... :hihi:

Thanks for providing your tracks Donkey Tugger! Its been fun to mix, but a real challenge as well!
To be honest, I´m not too experienced in a genre like that, so i simply tried to - well - make it sound as good as possible for me.

Felt like there are a thousand directions one can take this song and it´s hard to commit to one.
On the one hand this cries out for ambience and reverb,´but since there´s so much going on it´s also very dangerous to drown everything in space and delays and that gating effect, so I tried to move some elements in the foreground while pushing others further back and so hopefully achieve some depth and contrast in the mix. Hope you like it...

Cheers
Herb
