Here is my MC38 submission. As is often the case, I grew fond of this song as I mixed it.

MP3: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0l63np8zv14dy ... y.mp3?dl=0

Mixed with Cakewalk Sonar Platinum using built-in ProChannel and Slate plug-ins primarily.

I kept it pretty simple. Okay, I synced a few acoustic bits, and maybe the bass, but that's it. I really like those gang vocals. I ran them through a compressor and a plate and I think they're my favorite part.

Hi everyone! Super late entry coming in.

No edits in the end, only the Intro acoustic guitars to match them a little better.

I followed the original mix, tried to enhance everything there and give it a more open sound.

here I go with kind of a vintage 70th sound.
Less compression, and as less procession as possible, no time correction.
I think this song needs his old vibe and dirt.
I used Nectar2 for vocals, some CLA-2A compressor and Waves J37 tape.

couldn´t upload from work,,,

aargh!!

anyway... hopefully it will be considered.

about the mix, didn´t do anything weird... all tracks remained intact.

used a gate on kick and snare... this one has a "punch" feature, a small increase in level in the attack portion of the envelope.

hope it brought out the punch of the drums that was needed.

nice song, btw!

bye.

It is the 22nd November 2017, 0:59am GMT+1/CEST - the first Mix Round has officially ended

If I didn't miscount, we have 19 participants this month! Six participants less than last month (25).
There has been been 1 submission after the deadline. No "warnings" due to rule violations.

Please check all if your links again, make them downloadable. Those that uploaded MP3s only, please take note: providing a FLAC (on low bandwidth)/WAV (on DSL and higher) file is mandatory now. Please also update your posts with minimal documentation for others to learn from (see Rules & Guidelines).

I now open the field for everyone to give each other feedback (highly encouraged). This will be independent to the client feedback however.

Please watch this spot for the client feedback and Mix Round 2 participant announcement.
Good luck to all participants.

The Songwriting Competition 03 (SWC03) is still in full swing.
The deadline is 24th November 2017, 11:59pm GMT+1/CEST (Black Friday)

There is also still an important poll going on regarding the December challenge (and the follow up month). Please participate with your feedback! The poll ends on 27th November.

Hello!

Now that the round 1 has ended, time for feedback.

I was impressed with Medll and Mork's snares. Great job.

However there is no documentation on your posts.

Could you please guys share your settings to get your snare? (if you don't mind :hail: )

I really liked HerbFelho's editing arrangements of the song too.

Good luck everybody!
Kevin.

Thanks! I was actually surprised that simply muting certain parts worked that well, that´s not often the case, but here it makes sense i think...

I like your mix too Kevin, there´s a good clarity in it, and I like the delays you used on the lead vocal and harp.
But are you aware your mix is overall clipping a bit? Peaking at +0.16 dB and +0.78 dB true peak according to my meters. Just a side not here...
Well, at least you won the "loudness war" in this round for sure.

Wish you luck and all the others too!

Although I agree that muting some parts of the song works very well for this track isn´t that against the rules? More specifically this one.
"the provided arrangement must remain the same (take note of a given audio demo). Do not change the song key, do not add an additional beat or instruments (e.g. replay a guitar), move parts around and therefore change the arrangement. Unless otherwise stated (i.e. radio mix, loops being allowed for reordering, creative audio effects like glitching, etc)"
I know this doesn´t mention substracting parts but I think that it still counts as rearrangement, could be wrong tho but is something that I noticed on previous MCs before.
