I'm not gonna rate ya but I'm gonna start off with OcotoSexy because this track was Solid! I read your negative feedback comments and I'm just not feeling them.
Review: The intro is straight-up sexy. I heard someone didn't like it somewhere but I got a little porn swishy there. :54 Drop is Nasty! 1:30 could have more vocal sample interplay but what is there is there and it acts as a timer really. 2:11 is Sick! 3:06 is a good bring back of the original porn star. 3:38 I thought the Spanish lead in was seamless. New Vocal. 4:38 nice beat to get out of there. 5:45 Brought that sexy back at just the right time. 6:50 is just outtro music. 7;08 comes back sexy and fades out. 7:40 I hate that sound effect out but whatever. I really don't understand how anyone had a negative on this production. It's how he laid it out and how it ultimately worked best. There could have been more vocal samples but what he had were in the correct spots when they needed to be. That's a wrap. Love this song. You either get hooked by that groove or cant dance. That simple.

Fix in Da Mix
Comes correct with the right beat intro but what are those annoying high pitched birds? Bass is sick with a great accent kick. Keys help the moment but could definitely be bigger. I feel like by 1:15 that sound should have been layered and thick. The build. That should and could have been driving by then with more layers. 1:30 I got a key change but its just a place holder for something cool to happen in the future. 1:55 You break. Beat is off and where is the big snare moment? More of those birds as filler. 2:14 is jamming except for those damn birds. The beat is there and the groove is nasty. 2:30 comes in semi-full and makes me want for more layers. What you have is a solid foundation...just more time and focus and more instrumentation. Nice work!

KC23: Opens with real original tracks. I feel he played every bit of them and sadly I haven't heard anything to promote that in the comments. The bass is super sexy with a great organic tone. The guitars could have had 3 more tracks to make it more interesting. Solo Lead 1:49 What was good is the background music until 2:17 The vocal samples aren't loud enough to hear really. 3:20-3:40 is just there but that bass starts getting nasty. A lot of the sounds including guitar come full circle to meet here. 4:07 Changes Beat. That whole moment could have been accented better. By 4:50 I realize the only resolution to the song is the consistent guitar strums. Toms are horrible on the outtro. I really like it and brings the question to the table...The submission with the original tracks and the actual time invested recording them rates how against a field that doesn't at all? You probably don't rate any higher but you do in my book. Good song KC360

Keep making music and keep it rolling. I heard something about Open Mic=Open Mouth. Might get interesting....

First and foremost thanks for the feedback, sexy or otherwise! You put into words some things I was feeling. I REALLY need to know when to finish a song (in this case I'd probably cut off the last minute and come up with a different ending), and to trim all the fat. Anyway, I guess that's the natural flow of things, you produce something, then someone with fresh ears tells you "that's too much, that's lacking xyz"...
Now, I've been checking out the available prizes and it's a tough decision, there's a lot of great stuff there!!
I was VERY tempted by Momentum but it requires full Kontakt, which I don't have.
I'll go with Juggernaut from Impact Soundworks. I'm ready to rumble

OctopusOnFire wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2017 20:38 CETI feel it doesn't fit the given theme. Not the feel, not the tone. It feels very clean and chill, sounds "too natural", lacks samples, processed stuff...
Mister Fox wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2017 21:56 CETI don't know what to give you as hint to fit this production more into "Big Beat" [...] it's just not fitting for this month's theme.
FixInTheMix wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 04:45 CETI think you approached the structure of the song [...] starting with a simple idea and stacking things on top of each other to form demsity, [...] The other important aspect that I think is lacking is the correct use of rhythm for the drum beat, to me the drum beat never gets to be big beat style.
[...] The song may be a litle too much "organic" as in the guitar performance, maybe sampling your guitar and processing it to get a more digital and "glitchy" sound could work.
Yep. To be honest, I listened to some references (mostly Massive Attack´s Angel, then some Portishead... although I don´t know if they fit the genre...), got some insipiration, fired up the daw and off I went... almost just like Fixin´ said. By the time I got my head out of the water and looked around, I did recognized I was a bit far off the mark, but too long gone (did though about doing that process with my recorded tracks) and too little time to get back!
Hey thanks for taking the time to listen and write! Yep, I played almost everything (no sticks on drums here, just mouse!), and did use some samples.(Btw, used the Cerberus bass amp by Kuassa if you´d like to check it out). However, I do have to agree with the general feedback about not fulfilling the genre requirement of the competition.
So, for that, I think I will pass on the third prize.
Now... there´s a lot of Open Mics coming our way! Maybe I will revisit some old compositions and see about updating them for these...
See you guys there.
Happy New Year!
