...Personally I could not care less about which compressor or eq you used.
:phones:
I care, because it is part of the rules, and the basis for the educational side of our small community. So unless you work "with stock tools only", you have to (bar minimum) talk about one sound you enjoyed sculpting, and how you did it.

This month has an additional special request.
Depending on how well it will be taken, it might actually become a permanent request.

Please do not assume my role as "host" and "Keeper of the Code", thank you. :educate:
I wouldn't dream of it!
To expand on what I meant, stating that you used compressor "x" without for example saying you used a fast attack, slow release and 3dB gain reduction doesn't, in my opinion, tell us enough to be educational. This info is the key, along with the actual compressor used to perform that task. Would you agree that to learn we need the whole picture?

I really liked your idea to stop the beat with the pistol sound then bring it all back that was a great idea production wise!
Thanks for your comment!

And that might actually be asked to be reverted, should the entry be selected for Mix Round 2, as this would be an arrangement change.

Please read again what the Song Provider wrote on the topic of creating additional mutes. Needless to say, that entry is now final - no re-uploads with further changes allowed for the time being (else, your entry is "tagged OUT").

:arrow_right: Once more - everyone, please pay attention to detail on the given rules (bar minimum the Mix Pack bundled "TL;DR Rules.txt") and what options you have to add your own fingerprint to the mix. If you really feel the need to change something that has not been agreed upon, start a conversation about why you feel this change was necessary. Maybe you can convince our Song Provider. However, your task is "mixing", not "(further) producing".

Including today, 15 days left to submit your mix.
OK, I didn't want to break the rules but just to to emphasise theses mutes because I found them quite nice.
If you or/and the song provider estimate that my volume automations are arrangement changes I'm OK with that.

To be completly transparent, here is a screenshot of the volume automation curve on the synths bus: https://drive.google.com/file/d/14WZHH2 ... drive_link

Sorry if I broke the rules... :scared:

In the words from the songprovider there is the suggestion to use for example a tape- stop at the break 2.09- 2.12. Would that be a mute? And is muting tracks in that part of the song considered to be within the rules?

Just checking.....

Hello Jeroen,

in fact you can do "whatever" you like in that specific area, I just wanted to give some space for individual creativity and a possibility to try a few things you never done before. As long as you don't have anything super creative/catchy on the vocals I would not suggest to simply mute the beat. But you can do that of course if you want to. Hope this helps!

I have not listened to your mix, but I would be very wary of using an LA2A for nearly every track. It has quite a slow release and I suspect that you might take too much life out of the music with an over application of such a compressor. Sorry to be the bearer of a negative comment, but i do think this is a worthwhile message. I should really have listened but was unable to today.

-17 LUFS, -1.9 dBTP, 24 bit, 48 kHz.

I'll give my opinions on original mixes first.
I really liked the kick and 808 in SWC066_MellowBrowne_TrapHouse.wav. They translate very well. I'd rather used that sound despite it being a bit overpowering in the mix. Generally mix is decent, maybe vocals needed better placement.
Mellow Browne - Trap House Mix New 09_24.wav has better vocal translation in mono, but too much energy in 1k, giving it that telephone sound. Hats are very poky, have annoying ring to it, making me turn down the volume. I want to listen to this genre as loud as possible and be engulfed by the sound.

I was aiming for a well translated mix through different devices. Started my mix with vocals. My aim here was to make it clean and comparative to other tracks if it was on a playlist.
After majority of the mix was done, I started mixing on my phone via Sonobus and then on coaxial Bluetooth speaker. I remember driving around with my friends in a car and it had these small coaxial speakers on the front and some trap tracks just sounded awful, producing that biting, ringing sound with hi-hats. That's why I got it and use it often to check the high frequencies and sub translation. Felt like it needed longer release on 808, like in SWC066_MellowBrowne_TrapHouse.wav, so I added a parallel saturation to it with shaperbox volume automation, to mix it in on the tail, giving it more presence in other devices.
I know that song provider does not intend to release this track. Since I don't speak the language and don't know if lyrics are cringe or not, but I think that adding a break with different instruments/textures the song would be pretty good.
