Good to see another user from KVR OSC. You have some nice skills regarding composition but do not forget about sound design  . I also do not have any previous experience with sound design based on samples but most of principle works same here. 2 days left not much time and I still adjusting instrumnets and only have basic theme made so far.

Since this is a special case scenario (first challenge of this kind) and a lot of parallel running games all over the internet. I am thinking about an extension.

Currently, there are 48 hours left to produce something. I'd like to keep these deadlines (24th of the month), since we've been doing this for 17 months. But considering that we have one entry so far... how shall we approach this? The last 24 hour extension to the 25th December didn't result in much more participation either.

:hmmm:

I personally would like more time to finish my track, but that shouldn't be a reason to extend the deadline.
I don't know anyone else who would be willing to start and finish a track in this short of a time period, so i'm not sure an extension would help.
Just my thoughts.

Realistically speaking, how long would you folks need?
I know some of you got on board fairly late - but it's not like I've been promoting this particular challenge since mid January.

Me personally, I downloaded the samples on the first day, but I've been working mostly on my OSC entry, and didn't revisit this until Friday. I could definitely get something done by the current deadline, although an extra day would help ease the pressure on my other commitments (that is, homework).

Yup extra one day will help. I'm just starting with composition and there is not much free time during day for me because of my fulltime job/work.

Just as a check in:
  • The KVR Audio OSC (One Synth Challenge) runs from 1st of the month until the last of the month
  • the KVR Audio MCSC (Music Cafe Songwriting Competition) runs from 1st of the month until 27th
  • a certain other songwriting competition (with limited tools) that I'd like to not mention ends tonight (23rd)
  • Dwelling of Duels runs until the 30th January
  • the "ThaSauce" compos (composition competitions) don't have a set date
  • February will probably be the annual "February Album Writing Month" (for FAWM) again
We could talk about this more in-depth in the "Songwriting - General Gossip" thread. But I slowly get an idea that the deadlines don't work out for a lot of people for the songwriting competition, while it's not a problem for the mixing challenges.

I'm just pinging FixInTheMix in this current discussion, to see if he'd be fine with an extension of the deadline (since he submitted early, and would get a chance to slightly fix his production) to say... Sunday the 27th? The voting Period would still run until the end of the 1st of February. So instead of 8 days for voting, there will only be 5. But if this means we do have more entries overall this month, I'd consider it before the automated announcements go out on Social Media around midnight.

I will address this topic in the February planned survey...

Whatever helps to get more participants in is fine by me, I consider my track to be finished so I won´t be altering my submission.

Hello guys!

I started my experiments at the beginning of the month, but an actual "theme" began only last friday. I think it is like 80% ready and the extension would be nice, I could implement all my sound ideas and perhaps achieve better sounding mix. It is going to be something like minimal techno'ish soundscape.

Btw, I'm another usual OSCer, but the subject of this month has grabbed my interest. This is something I've never did before and perhaps some other people too.

Does the 27th sound like a good "one time deal" then? That would mean an additional 4 days!

I do need your help with this though - spread the word as much as you can. Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, other forums, newsletters, chatrooms, subgroups, etc. If we exceed 8 participants this month, then we can have a proper 3-person winners podium.
