Hi all!
The process was pretty straightforward and quick too.
Quick guitar reamp with various plugins (bx_rockrack JCM800 for intro L, Freeamp on Mesa for guitar fills, Emissary 2 for guitar L&R and bx_megasingle for solo) to find a good base sound.
Then volume adjustments on drums to choose best sounding mikes (mainly SD) and finally Bass Professor MKII on bass.
Main instrumental sound was done. Then was the time for vocals, choirs and fine shaping on drums (mainly NY comp, Pultek on loudness eq and tape saturation to smoth a bit and put mids forward) and bass.
Final polish and render.

Hey thanks for the tracks morelia. Thought the processed tracks sounded pretty good so didn't feel the need to do that much. Usual basic template. All tracks had FF Pro-Q2, Slate VCC and Tape and Decapitator. Plus Devil Loc Deluxe on drums and vocals. Waves R-Bass and C4 on bass and kick. Echoboy on gtrs and vocals. STA Level, MV2 and a gtr amp on bass. Used Kramer Pie on a few things. Returns had Slate Stress for drums, MJUC for instruments and Little Plate for verb on most tracks. Mix buss had Slate Stress, FG-MU, CS Lift and KClip. Volume automated the snare quite a bit and did a few timing tweaks on the bass.

Hey guys!
Here are my mixes:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/t7a0pbwsfmqp2 ... k.mp3?dl=0
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1zj4d6qide487 ... k.wav?dl=0
I didnt do that much this month, since the sources were pretty much there. Used EQs and Comps/Limiters when needed (mostly BX SSL Channel, Pro Tools Stock EQ, FF ProQ3, L1). The drums got some DevilLoc and LoFi to make them sound more real. The intro guitars have that destroyed touch, as I really liked that for an intro. Rooms are ValhallaRoom and Altiverb. I reamped the bass to make it cut with the Darkglass plugin. The additional rhythm guitar got a Wah effect to get some movement. Nothing really special going on.
Thanks for doing this!
Cheers, Phil

Below is my submission for MC053.
This is my 1st run at a more "heavy" sound. It's not usually in my wheelhouse, and I learned quite a lot in the process. Thanks for submitting this tune! It was really fun to work with and I enjoyed listening to it. I listened to Foo Fighters, Audioslave, Nirvana, and Rage Against The Machine for reference. There is quite a lot of compression and saturation in those mixes, so it was a challenge for me to learn how to push it to that level. I recently got Soundtoys Devil-loc plugin, so it was a perfect opportunity to try it out on the drums on this mix.
Good luck to all participants!

Here's my process in Reaper somewhat in order:
1. Created all Buses and folders and organized tracks.
2. Set up my Mix bus with a tickle of Waves SSL Compressor, Kramer Tape saturation, and high pass EQ at 30 hz.
3. Worked on drums:
a. Overheads: EQ to work out overall sound, but concentrated on hats and cymbals - used a small amount of MJUC comp.
b. Kick: SSD as main sound w/EQ and Comp, and SD as more of the click w/Fabfilter Saturn to add distortion. Both fed into Kick folder with another parallel Saturn plug and Waves MV2 in parallel to compress and push up the low level.
c. Snare: SSD as the main sound, and SD as the "knock" both w/EQ and compression. I used just a little Soundspot Orbit on the knock to add more transients. I copied another track of the SSD and used Devil-Loc to make a bottom snare mic sound and blended it in. (I just got Soundtoys Devil-loc, so it was a great opportunity to try it out on the drums. It worked perfect for this!) All 3 tracks were sent to a snare folder with EQ and parallel FF Saturn.
d. Room: I used the SD Room track w/high pass eq. I made another track and sent OH, snare and Kick to it to create a faux room w/room verb. Blended and sent both track to a folder to crush it w/waves CLA-76 and lo and hi pass EQ.
e. Hats: Used both tracks and sent to folder w/EQ. Mixed just under OH's.
f. Drum Bus: Parallel comp using Devil-Loc.
4. Bass: Duplicated bass into 3 tracks: Reamped one w/Softube Bass Amp Room, another w/Waves CLA Bass, and the another to use as parallel compress and distort w/Saturn.
5. Guitars:
a. Intro Left: Saturn into Waves GTR Stomp fuzz pedal into Waves GTR amp into hi and lo pass eq into Echoboy delay. intro R: EQ and Waves GTR stomp using just a little Overdrive and distortion and lo/hi pass. Auto panned the L & R to move center at end and used volume automation to build up for center end note.
b. All other guitars: Used all tracks but tried to eq to differentiate tones. DI's were all reamped differently using waves GTR amp & eq. All were sent to a folder w/FF Saturn to add more grit and just a little compression.
6. Vocals: I wanted to further differentiate the chorus and verse, so I used only 3 "smooth" tracks and a few of the shout tracks for verses. Chorus I blended most all tracks. EQ and comped. Vocal bus has Saturn and SSL comp.
7. FX: Snare verb send w/lo/hi pass eq and CSR Plate verb with a fairly hi predelay. Delay send for vocals and solo guitar w/Echo Boy and lo/hi eq.
8. Mix Bus EQ: subtle tweaking to taste.
9. Volume automation to try to add more dynamics for verse and chorus, and tweaked panning to taste.

Hi. Thanks for the great opportunity to mix this song. Great work on the composition - the guitar solo could be in a hit song! I have not been mixing for very long and I have really spent alot of time referencing and trying to improve my skills to improve.

My mix edits:
My mix approach was just to try to make 2000's modern radio rock mix. I decided to try to approach the vocal performance as more individual and less as a group feel that is in the rough mix. Light use of overdubs throughout and then more backing is introduced at certain parts with automation.
Mixed in protools. All tracks were given a slight hi and low filter using TDR NOVA. Then used a vu meter and clipgain to bring all initial signals to a consistent level.
Guitar: All Guitars were processed with S-Gear and Ownhammer IRs, different models for each track. The intro L guitar was treated with izotope vinyl and AIR lofi. The rest of the guitars were eq'd and lightly compressed with BX_e class channel strip and then buss eq'd with softube trident A - with a fairly strong mid scoop. put a high shelf using TDR slickeq as well. Echoboy and Subspace for delay and reverb is opened during the solo. used automation to widen or narrow panning at certain points in the song.
Drums: I used the SSD Kick and the SD Snare, then the rest of the elements. BX_SSL E Class Eq was used for Eq and light compression. I used parallel compression on the snare to add punch and then again another parallel aux sent in small amounts from all drums to a light reverb and lots of compression using BF 1176 compressor.
Bass - Used audio damage rough rider, R-Bass, and waves MV2 to help handle dynamics. BX_SSL E Class Eq was used for eq
Vocals: comped together a 'lead vocal' and used izotope necktar to apply some gating, eq, and very minor auto pitch correction. Used Fabfilter pro DS for de-essing. Eq'd with BX_SSL E Class channel strip., izotope vocal doubler (thicken). Softube Tape Clipgained elements of the track to make performance consistent volume. Used ERA Vocal leveler at about 50% processing to do the rest of the work. used echoboy delay to thicken further, as well as add slapback delay. Used subspace reverb after delay. Overdubs and shouts- selected some of the better doubles that were recorded and applied iztope nectar for very small micro pitch correction and eq. the backgrounds.
Mix buss: bx townhouse/Fabfilter pro C to add glue to the mix. Softube Drawmer s73 and weiss limitier were used to add some width and protect against any rogue peak. did not use limiting specifically to increase loudness. Used bx_2098 eq to add a monomaker at about 100hz, and to make some slight M/S eq adjustments. Used fabfilter saturn to add some additional glue as well.
For each buss, tried puremix sugar to help add some high air frequencies.

your mix is worthy of making it to Round 2, if the decision was mine to take. However, I think the rules about providing documentation have become more strict, and you need to share some kind of info, even if it is a couple screenshots and a brief explanation of the processing.
Don't waste the opportunity for saving 5 minutes of work, cheers!

hi all, this is my entry. great arrangement.
my mix process took about 3 hours. main plugins used were apogee fx, waves l2 / l1, S1, eventide 2016 for revers, and mcdsp ec300 for delays, bx rockrack for guitars. most others were from logic.
I automated only the ending, and the guitar solo (dry->wet). I didn't use the processed files. I also didn't use hi hat, only the room.
if anyone wants my project, feel free to ask. it's a logic project.
nice song, I think if u re-record the main vocal, there will be a significant upgrade on the song. from the takes, I think u can sign pretty well.
thanks for letting mix ur song, and good luck to all

What's up everyone!
Thank you Morelia and Mister Fox for such a great mixing opportunity and challenge.
I used every single track provided and used Ableton Live 10 to mix this track. In this mix, I did a lot of typical EQ'ing, compression, panning, and balancing. I did a small minimal amount of automation except on the vocal tracks. In my opinion the vocals needed the most work. I did the best I can to get an overall well balanced sound and separated the vocal tracks into 4 separate groups to gain overall control. I applied lots of EQ and compression as well. The processed guitars sounded great on their own. I did some EQ'ing, compression and added a little saturation too. I did the same for the bass and drum kit.
Good Luck Everyone and Happy Mixing!
