@Donkey Tugger Hello, can you drop me a few lines? for training? It would be great.
Here is my second attempt out of the contest: http://picosong.com/v9aV/
GL to all others!
Sorry for the delay. Yes, I'll include your 2nd attempt here when I sit down to do the judging for the second round on Monday (or possibly Tuesday) night, and given you some seperate feedback. If I forget (I can be a bit stupid at times..) then please feel free to give me a bit of a prod!
I'm slightly pleased that the contest has another day to run, as the lovely British summer has resulted in a stinker of a cold, which is just wearing off. Hearing getting back to normal, which is possibly desirable in this context.
Here is my 2nd round submission. Tried to address all of Mr. Tugger's feedback (the detailed feedback is appreciated - especially with so many mixes!).
Hey! Thanks for choosing my mix for round 2 Donkey Tugger!
Pretty much worked on the points you mentioned, really went to town with the bass using Fab Filter´s Saturn to more or less destroy it completely
Tried to make most things sound more direct and upfront by turning down – or automating the reverbs (mainly used H-Reverb from Waves with its internal ducking mode), but also by making the Transient Design Plugins work a bit harder (used Waves Trans-X and Sonic Anomaly Transpire here).
Not a secret the most tricky thing for all of us was to get the Celeste right, really hard to figure out what´s going on there, would be interesting to know what you did there on your original mix. At least it should be closer to what you intended now.

Good luck to all!

Hehe. At this point I think shift some of the blame onto Mr Fox, as I'm sure it came up in conversation about whether effects presets should be provided for the celeste sound, and he said something like, "nah, they'll be able to work it out'.
I was thinking of providing a few pointers before the start of round 2, but then thought, "nah, they'll be able to work it out...perhaps". All I'm saying at this point is that there's a lot more to it than would first be imagined...
My submission for the 2nd Round.
@Donkey Tugger
I think I addressed the issues you had mentioned from Round 1. Like others have said getting the Celeste right was really tricky. Used the print.
I learned a few more things mixing this track. So thank you again for providing good material that challenges us to get better.
Good luck to all in the 2nd Round.
Special thanks to Mr. Fox for keeping things going for all of us.
A brief interlude here, just to inform you that your username made me chuckle – there's a nutter in the pub next to my work (Whispering Don) who constantly tells people he's talking to Mork....
Maybe he is... Now you know I'm real. Or maybe i'm that nutter proving I'm right by faking it
Okay, so you asked for more in-your-facyness. There you go:
But there shall be no track called "Tinfoil" without some obvious effects!
I did what you asked for plus a lot more. You know how it is, you tweak one thing but then everything else has to follow. I also cleaned up a bit more so that everything interlocks better with each other. At least that's the plan
