Hi. This is the first mix I have ever done. I think it was a great song to begin with, I really liked it!

Hey folks!
I finally gave in and got a Pro Tools trial yesterday. So this is my first mix in PT, it can only get better To make it even more fun (and because I haven't set it up properly yet)I restricted myself to stock plugins and because for some reason I can't see the extended plugins (or whatever they're called), I only used Avids stockiest stock plugins of them all.
The following plugins where harmed in this session:
EQ3 - lots of of it! It's even on the Main bus
Dyn3 - Comp and gate
LoFi - for some edge on drums/bass/synth/strings/mix
Dverb - as deep as it gets... NOT
MIII ModDelay or whatever it's called - doesn't have a high pass, WHY? Used it for Haas style spreading and delay on Vox and snare.
Maxim on Main bus - to be safe, does absolutely nothing
Maybe one BF76, but I think I switched it out for a Dyn3 on WarDrums parallel bus.
Signal Generator - used the old gate trick to get less boyant sub for the kick (at least I tried).
Avid channel strip - just to try it (on bass)
That's it.
Really wished for a subharmonic synth to get that soundtrack-like earthquake sub on bass, but that would have been in the missing extended collection. Oh well, I hope it's listenable anyway.
WAV: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1lXz5v ... kvaVtRRUpR
MP3: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1EVAs2 ... eLaqegdGOO
Cheers
Mork
BTW: I was really eager to see how Pro Tools performs compared to Reaper, because I use a seven year old PC (i5 2500k, 8GB Ram) and I am quite surprised! At the end I was only at 14% CPU usage, but I guess that is subject to change when I start using actual plugins

Hi, here's mine. Thanks a lot for the opportunity.
I've used only ableton's stock plugins (Basically just EQ and that's that) except the izotope vocal doubler on 'Vocalise C pad'.

I'm in, plz enjoy, I hope the sound is good!
Screen shots will come in the next minutes.
I used quite some busses.
Stereo bus has a glue compressor, EQ, exciter, saturator.
Therefor on an number of track there is almos no processing.
The sound should not change much with mastering, so there had to be some bus processing, to get the density.
Ambiloop Azure drums got intense transient shaping.
bx_console_N was used on many tracks.
the hihat has Lindell X.
vocals and noises have Noveltech character.

so here's the screen shots, there are all track plugins.
** Addendum, as of this edit, the mp3 is also in the above folder, but with a small correction in the summing EQ that improves clarity, it's just a monitoring issue. This is after the end of round 1.
As the file names are of little help for the structure, I had to do some preparation, each track got a one-letter tag during the pre check, which decided the bus (only minimal changes later on).
So here is the fun:
So I could throw in the package in one drag and drop, and add the busses after the tag letter.
I did not add much reverb, used OrilRiver for the orchestral melody,
and SIR with a pre-delayed gate-impulse for the drums and vocals, l/r in the return was reversed.
The Damage Snare also uses iZotope Trash2 and Dragonfly Room inline.
Melody has a mult, so that there is a mono source in the center, and the stereo tracks are even widened more, and go a few millisecs later.
Strong exciters were Novelltech Character and SPL Vitalizer (intro noises), subtle exciters were MSaturator (Melda), Airwindows Tape6, TesslaProMkII.
Track 1 is gating the kick to a sidechain source to duck the bass synths. This gives just a short plop for the comp, but is also added to the main.
One of the bass synths has kind of a "Maxbass" processor in a rack, which is my design. Basically it adds the first harmonic and some stuff around.
I thought, the synth basses should sound a bit more like Kraftwerk, when they were played this way.
I shifted some bass tracks for a few milliseconds, else the groove did not groove..
Thanks for a beautiful song to learn from.

Re: MIX CHALLENGE - MC062 February 2020 - Mix Round 1 in evaluation
It is the 22nd February 2019, 01:40am GMT+1/CET - the first Mix Round has officially ended
Once more, a very warm welcome to all new participants. A huge thank you to everyone that is spreading the word about the Mix Challenge. Please help get the Songwriting Competition as popular (still 0 submission as of the moment of this time-stamp, and 3 days left).
STATISTICS:
Please check all if your links again, make them downloadable(!). Those that uploaded MP3s only, please take note: providing a WAV file is mandatory. Please also update your posts with documentation for others to learn from (see Rules & Guidelines).
I now open the field for everyone to give each other feedback (highly encouraged). This will be independent to the client feedback however.
Please watch this spot for the client feedback and Mix Round 2 participant announcement.
Good luck to all participants.
The Songwriting Competition 30 (SWC30) is still in full swing.
The deadline is 24th February 2020, 11:59pm GMT+1/CET.
We're also in desperate need for more material for future Mix Challenge competitions. There have been some offering in recent weeks, but we're sadly not out of the woods yet. In order to keep the Mix Challenge up and running, we need a constant pool of 5-6 productions in the queue.
Please spread the word!

STATISTICS:
- If I didn't miscount, we have 050 submissions this month (6 more participants than December 2019 with 44 entries, and 22 less participants compared to February 2019)
- We have 0 submission after the deadline (I consider the 12:00am submission to be a server glitch - WARNING for the future, do not submit at the last minute!)
