Dasein - Night_Peace
Overall, a great composition. There’s a nice emotional flow throughout the piece as the calmer, slower sections are replaced by more powerful, faster motifs. The emotional charge is also what distinguishes the song from the others.
The strings create a good atmosphere right from the start. The arc and mood of the entire piece have a bit of an 'Interstellar' vibe, which I really like.
In terms of production, the piano feels very phased. Because of this, it sounds more washed out, without attack. I would significantly reduce the side, narrow its sound considerably, and then enhance it with an EQ-ed reverb.
JeroenZuiderwijk - A Journey
The song definitely has a retro game vibe. I like the composition and the structure, but it’s a pity that it ends so abruptly — I would have extended the climax at the end. The guitar melody is good, but I might replace the guitar sound with a lead synthesizer to make it even more authentic.
I like the structure and rhythm of the song, but the execution slightly less so. The kick feels a bit too high-pitched for me; it should be deeper. There’s a bit of emptiness between the kick and the higher bass. Overall it feels like a layer of bass is missing.
I would tweak the balance of the instruments a bit. When the piano comes in at 0:38, I would push the synths into the background (for example, using a Trackspacer) and bring the piano forward.
Overall, though, I really liked the retro vibe and the composition.
Ike H-mope - Stars
A lovely minimal song with a familiar vocal.
The composition is lovely, creating an intimate atmosphere with the duo of Ben Osterhouse and Solaria.
In terms of execution, the correlation in the low frequencies is off, and the resonating bass is often unpleasant. This could be avoided by adding an MB compressor to the bass on the master or on the track (and/or a dynamic EQ) and making everything mono below 150-200Hz.
Since the instrumentation is quite minimal, more dynamics should be added to Solaria's voice, but I know this is challenging — I’m also still figuring out how to use SynthV vocalists well for this.
Overall, it’s a nice and charming song.
Elcubano - The Comet
The guitar playing throughout the song is very appealing and pleasant to listen to.
I would divide the song into three main sections, and in terms of sound and production, I like the middle section the most. The balance between the drums and bass is great, and I appreciate the presence of high-pitched percussive sounds. In the first and last sections, I feel the high frequencies are missing from the soundscape, making the tone a bit darker.
The song’s biggest strengths are the guitar playing and the detailed development of each section. Nice work.
EsteveCorbera - L'Exploracio Del Cosmos
The song clearly reflects a lot of work — a nice little 'Space Odyssey' with many great sounds. The atmosphere is excellent, and the musical execution fits the theme well.
Some of the pad elements are a bit phased, and I recommend paying attention to the correlation at the lows and the mids.
A Voxengo Correlometer on the master can be helpful for monitoring this, or I recommend checking out Dan Worrall's SPAN tutorial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZrWMv0 ... DanWorrall (especially the second half).
In terms of composition, I think everything after 5:50 is unnecessary — the piece had a good conclusion before that.
Overall, it’s a very atmospheric 'space song' with some great sounds and effects — congratulations!
Paramnesia - Space
This heavy metal(?) creation is a real surprise. After the intro, the musical intensity kicks off skillfully, and the mixing is excellent. However, in the chorus sections, the guitar is too loud and wide, while the vocals are too weak and not prominent enough — it should be the other way around.
Aside from that, it’s an exciting — and it feels strange to say this — but catchy song with great rhythm changes. It makes you want to start headbanging right away (if only you had long hair)!
In the intro, the plucky opening with the sharp sounds works well, but I wouldn’t include it later on — just at the end. The sharp sounds cut through the mix nicely, but I personally prefer the metal style without them.
This is a very clever and exciting creation, well done!
BenjiRage - Overworld
Ah, this is fantastic. It sounds great, the mixing is excellent, the vocals sit perfectly, and there’s just the right amount of reverb on the drums. A top-notch production.
A tiny downside, though, is that — even though the song’s length aligns with today’s standards — back in the ’80s, they lasted a bit longer. I’d love to keep listening to it for a little while longer.
Koekepan - As The Air Runs Out
A very appealing concept. A large, echoing space with clever sound design elements. The pulsing, rhythmic background at the beginning is excellently tucked into the mix. The chord progression is well-done, giving a true ambient feel: soothing, relaxing music.
What I like less is that both the plucky, sharp bell sound and the lead synth in the second half don’t quite fit the background. These sounds are too dry, with too little reverb, and the bell melody seems a little sharp and harsh. The lead synth in the second half is often resonant, which detracts from the experience.
Nonetheless, this is a fantastic concept with clever sound design, perfectly tailored to the theme. Very impressive work.
Vanilla Puff - Purple World
A nice bass-heavy production with great rhythms. I like the pulsing bass and the groove. However, it seems to me that the bass parts are somewhat distorted, and the flat waveform suggests a bit too much limiting.
I don’t miss variety in the melody because this monotonous tune suits the style well. Instead, I would aim for some variety in the sounds while keeping the melody and rhythm intact. For example, a more varied filter cutoff on the synthesizers or perhaps some higher-pitched percussive elements as ear candy (which would also benefit the soundscape).
A solid production and a very danceable club track
Congratulations!
ThomC - Out of Space
A very beautiful composition that fits the theme well. The instruments are lovely, though I would reduce the pedal noise on the piano later on — it feels a bit much and detracts from the experience. I’d also bring the solo violin slightly more to the forefront at the expense of the piano.
I really like how the song develops from 1:11 onward. However, in terms of composition, I feel a bit of something is missing at the end. The violin performance is gorgeous, especially from 1:40 when the rhythm picks up slightly, and as the song builds, the tension grows as well. Because of this, I’d expect a soothing resolution at the end — some sort of catharsis — but it doesn’t come, and I miss that.

PonySho - Space
It's a pity that there’s no way to vote for the song because it’s a truly charming singer/songwriter piece.
The vocal is a bit dry, especially at the beginning, but I really like it later on when paired with the backing vocals.
The song’s composition is great, I love the guitar playing. Well done!
